Bundesliga 17/18

Happy to see a more direct attack from Bayern, although it has opened up some counter attack opportunities for Leverkusen (and other opponents throughout the preseason). Pouring buckets there too in Munich.

Happy to see the new guys and youth getting some time.

9' goal - Süle
19' goal - Tolisso

hard to tell if Bayern is attacking well or Leverkusen is defending poorly. Probably a combination of the 2.

Leverkusen is going to finish 10-12. Need to fill an 11 goal hole and even with the Bender signing I don't think the defense is that strong. Who knows they might sit in a relegation spot for a week or two even though I don't think they come close to finishing there. Bayern looks like a younger scarier Bayern.

i know it was only preseason but bayern preseason honestly looked terrible. maybe they just needed some time to gel.

I dont think Leverkusen is gonna be as bad as people think theyll be.

The game against Liverpool they looked lost. People are calling this a revitalizing/retooling year for Bayern and you're right it might be growing pains.

I think BO4 have plenty of talent it all comes down to finding that rhythm and that is what has troubled them the past couple of years.

No real surprises here, aside from Schalke stepping up and shutting out last year's runners up RB Leipzig. Mckennie got 10 minutes as a sub at the end of the game as well. Dortmund handled Wolfsburg, with Pulisic opening the scoring for them.
Hamburg pull a Hamburg with their lone goal scorer, Müller, tearing his ACL while celebrating his goal and will be out at least 7 months.

Speaking of Muller tearing his ACL, it scares the crap out of me when I see players celebrate goals like Lewis did last night, by launching on to both knees bent under them. That's an ACL tear waiting to happen.

Pulisic was the MD1 Player of the Day. Just a public service announcement.
I think Bosz's 4-3-3 is going to suit Pulisic excellently as long as he can fight off Dembele for that front-right attacking position. He certainly made a case for it on Saturday. Incredible goal, and an inch-perfect assist among his usual domination of the wing.

Oh, and I wore my Pulisic jersey to the match yesterday and some NYCFC suit I didn't recognize said "I hope he comes here someday, but not too soon."

I saw a black Pulisic Dortmund jersey yesterday at halftime on the concourse somewhere between 222 and 227. Dat you?

Dembele and his dribbles to nowhere and dangerous giveaways out. The reins handed to CP. Should be a hell of a ride.

Stole this from a BS post. Not familiar with the channel, but I do think CP could go for something between 100 and Neymar.

Wes starts again for Schalke. 2 starts this week.

He’s going to be a big time player.

Get Bruce out, and he’s a starter for the US already.

As im sure most of you already know Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked from Bayern after a 3-0 defeat to PSG in Champions League yesterday.
There's something to be said for the efficiency of the German Boardroom.

i personally think they jumped the gun a little bit, but i understand why it was done
Definitely an interesting time to do it, but I think it had a lot to do with the form the team had at the end of last season carrying over. Seems to me like Ancelotti never got comfortable within the team and the team never took to his tactics 100%.

Also heard that a bunch of players (Hummels, Boateng, Müller, Ribery, and Robben) spoke to the higher ups at Bayern at their dissatisfaction with his coaching. Can't confirm this but just some things I've seen on Twitter and whatnot.

Will definitely be an interesting time at Bayern the next few weeks and months.
