CFG - South America Expansion

Shame Argentinian football is in absolute shambles.

Would have liked to see a partner over there. Plus with 30 teams in a division, far easier to stay up I reckon.

The Argentine Primera Division is actually in the middle of a gradual reduction to 24 teams, and they're relegating four a year at the moment. Not the easiest to stay up in, after all. Also, don't forget that Argentina has a system where teams get relegated not for their current season performance but for the average of their performances over the last three seasons, which is designed to assist the most powerful clubs for the off-years they occasionally have when they sell off the heart of their team for a windfall and then suffer for it in the following season. Unless we were planning on buying the likes of Boca Juniors, the system is actually set up to disadvantage the smaller teams.

Edit: apparently Uruguay also operates this system. I honestly had no idea. Only one team relegated a year though...

"If the reports are correct, CFG will add their first franchise in South America in the coming weeks. Second division Uruguayan Club Atlético Torque is rumored to be the takeover target. According to Uruguayan news outlet Ovacion, Torque have been working with City Football Group for some time."

Club Athletico Torque Ciudad? Torque Ciudad Club de Futbol?

All that's left is Africa...and Antarctica...and Mars!

IT IS NOW OFFICIAL

Probably Montevideo City

More likely Minas City, since they're supposed to be moving out of the capital to a city without an existing team. In fairness, they're currently pulling all of 250 fans a game in their current location.

Also, it wouldn't be Torque City as Torque isn't a place - it's a nickname/adjective of sorts, since one of their founders was a mechanic and liked the word.

Since I am Uruguayan I might as well fill in you bloody yanks......

There is only one team in Uruguay that rules with an iron fist.... MY BELOVED GLORIOUS CLUB NACIONAL DE FOOTBALL 3 time world club champion and 3 times Copa Libertadores winners and 46 time winners of Uruguayan first division.... 21 international championships tournaments..which also include 2 Conmebol Concacaf Inter America cups 1 conmebol recopas sudamericanas

the second team a utter garbage is the team of liars CA Penarol who lies about their championships won... count a non recognized rebel league as a uruguayan championships and counts the cups won by CURCC saying they were once curcc but changed their name in 1913... which is a lie seeing how Curcc played in friendly games up until 1915 b4 folding once and for all while penarol game into existance and playing at the same time as curcc starting in 1913... Curcc gifted their flag colors and championships won to the team called penarol and the club money to the british hospital.... had penarol and curcc been the same garbage there would be no reason to gift the trophies won and the money would have belong to penarol... in 1915 curcc legally disolved never to be seen again and in its place the liars of penarol began makin up their own fabricated history which changes over time to suit their needs.....

the low lifes of uruguay follow penarol with great vigor when their team is winning...

these are the Big 2 and split the country and have the most fans...

the move of CA Torque to minas is a good move seeing how no one in MVD would even want to look at them... to put it in to perspective take a look at the NYC situation Most will follow NYCFC or the energy drink and no one gives a shit about the cosmos in brooklyn that is pretty much montevideo in a nutshell and the rest of the cuntry.....and the situation torque and the rest of the uruguayan clubs find them selves in.....

from what i understand CA Torque plans on keeping their name as of the date I write this... which is great cause I believe in teams with their own history and logos should not be destroyed for a rebrand like red bull have done or any other CFG synergies...The team in japan got to keep their name.. melbourne hearts were rebranded i thought it was wrong in my opinion.... NYCFC is NYCFC from day 1 they started from scratch and did not take over any existing team and force a rebrand so I am okay with NYCFC...

CA torque will be used to produce young talent that can be redistributed with in cfg or sold to others... it will also be used to scout talent thru out south america....

Torque in minas has a chance to restart and build a fan base... but the nations culture is rooted vastly deep pretty much that you are Nacional or from penarol with 5% OF THE POPULATION being from another club.....

if CFG is smart they will want fans in minas to adopt torque as their 2nd Little club to enjoy.. also tickets must be very cheap as uruguay cost of living is expensive..

I think CFG knows what the deal in uruguay is and will want to do the best they can with a young team as the real purpose is to cultivate talent..

as far as a stadium unlike NYC there is no red tape and political parasites looking for a hand outs.. there are no retarted zoning laws like in the united states, politicians use to delay projects.... its pretty simple if you can find the land and buy it you can build what ever you want.... a small stadium for 10-15k is fine for torque... most of the time it will be filled to capacity when nacional or dip shits penarol show up... the rest of the time if they can get 5 - 8k to adopt Torque that in it self will be a success.... So yes if CFG want it its a pretty good bet they can build a stadium for CA Torque first than for NYCFC...
