Chicago postmatch

Looked better with 10 today than 11 on Wednesday. Another great solo effort from villa. Lewis looked great. Herrera is an idiot. Maxi good game minus his one flub that led to the goal. Ref sucked. Overall happy with how we looked

ETA: I forgot to give credit to brilliant. Actually had a good game and solid goal.

Incredible. Lewis and Brillant both did well. Looking forward to seeing more of Lewis + Villa + Harrison. Vieira seemed to calm down on his subs, too: I was worried after 60' that we'd start trying to bunker (our version of it at least); credit putting on Okoli and keeping a little pressure going forward

Great to get 3 points against a strong team! Even better considering the ref worked against us with the clear missed PK and dubious first yellow on Herrera. This was a grit it out and get the points performance and while we had some mistakes, nobody had a bad game. I'm never going to complain about 3 points against a top team after a midweek match!
Villa was absolute boss. SeanJohn is such a relief. I might go back and tag the plays and mention them here, but I specifically stopped the live feed to re-watch two rather insignificant looking moments, in which Saunders most likely would have given up a goal but SeanJohn makes it look easy. As great as it has been to have Chanot, Callens, Maxi, and Herrera this season, I think without Sean Johnson those additions would have been mostly nullified by all the extra goals we would have given up.
Thank goodness PV had no real defensive subs to use, he had no opportunity to give it away!

Think that might have been Villa's best ever game. The work rate was incredible, especially considering he just played 90' on Wed. But not only the work he put him, feel like he won a bunch of aerial battles, and just toyed with Chicago. Loved him juking out Schweinsteiger. And of course the goal.

Full credit to Brillant. Played a great game, scored a great goal.

Disappointed and a little pissed at both the ref and Herrera. And sucks to lose him for Toronto

Lewis looked great

Got a little lucky there at the end, but maybe that was karma helping us out

Great to win like this 10 v 12. Especially after a somewhat heartless performance against Toronto B. White is much better than RJ because he's more aware of his limitations. Considering how Raheem Edwards toyed with our right side defenders on Saturday, they controlled Accam pretty well. Not impressed with Chicago. I do think we're at the same level at least.

I hope we've seen the last of TMac as a starter, even a regular sub. JLew is miles better, there's no comparison. Also, TMac skills, whatever they may be, are relatively redundant for us, whereas we don't have pace like Lewis's in the team (Harrison has unreal control and turning ability but is not particularly fast; Wallace outmuscles but isn't fast either; Okoli is damn slow)

Glad to see Brillant and Lopez do well, since they're key to our depth. Would have like to see more from Awuah. Villa is God.

100% Lewis villa harrison

Awful - Referee
Great - Villa, Johnson
Good - Brillant, Lewis, Maxi, Ring
Average - Harrison, White, Lopez, Callens, Herrera, Okoli

- Jack has been a bit sloppy the last two games... some strange choices and giveaways. Hasn't seemed sharp/focused.
- Lewis will be a new fixture in the starting 11, and Ethan White is back. Wednesday's McNamara/RJ ugliness is over.
- Still bitter that they blew the TOR match... should be sitting pretty with 39 points.

Best effort I've seen from the team though, and Villa was brilliant.
NYCFC have 37 points in <2/3 of the season. Just a short 2 years ago they finished the season with 37. Great progress. They can beat anyone - just need to be more consistent.

Brilliant and obviously Villa were fucking immense. Lewis played well but his positioning needs work. But he's 100x better then Shitty Shelton.
and TPFKAU. PV was a little exposed regarding his past lineup decisions. I and others have long said that TPFKAU's lack of speed and athleticism is too much of a liability that nothing else he does matters. We have a slow playing creative mid who has been among the best playmakers in the world for a decade. And he ain't worth dick for us. Yet we've trotted out the younger, homeless version of him over and over.

Otherwise, hell, even Lopez was mostly decent to good in his defending today, and that's all we needed.

The ref should be tarred and feathered. Literally, one of the most shamefully one sided refereed matches I've ever seen.

Villa blocking a cross from the wing about 20 yds from the end line deep in the 2nd half is 1) why he is Legend and 2) the major difference in having PV instead of Kreis.

But as for the game we just played, no criticism today for anyone than the ref. Otherwise, happy to lend both my hands to the joyful circle jerk.
