Just got a call from Emily (not my rep BTW - this must just be her task) inviting me on admittedly short notice to a event announcing a secret undisclosed "community initiative" tomorrow morning. I couldn't go. The mayor is scheduled to be there. They are looking for fan reps from all 5 boroughs.

Make of it what you will.
I don't think this is "Stadium Deal. Confirmed." level good news (but feel free to dream for the next 16 hours). I do think it's a maybe slightly positive sign as I don't remember many joint events with the mayor himself apart from his sporadic visits to get booed at YS.

I was going to say "Staten Island stadium, confirmed", but judging by an NYCFC Facebook post, it looks like it's going to be some sort of announcement concerning the U.A.E. footing the bill rebuilding a playground in Brooklyn.

I think it is something else. That project seems to be completed and they had the event last month. From the word "initiative" I think this is something new and bigger. I don't think they need STHs from all boroughs for a Brooklyn playground.

A couple of months ago there was some suggestion of a commitment (I can't recall the source) to make a stadium announcement of some sort in July. Meetings about initiatives often include announcements. It's July. PARTY TIME!

Probably a Generation Adidas thing with NYCFC for the Bronx.

Any chance it's related to that top secret meeting some people got invited to a month or two back? Or was that all the same thing as this community project anyway? I never did work out what it was about.

The people who participated seem to have honored the NDA, but it was reported that it had nothing to do with potentially stadium related stuff.

Most likely building soccer fields / soccer courts in lower income areas.

Probably need to do some of this to build goodwill with the mayors office and the community.

hmmmm gotta get that "cantera" up and running with some kids from lower income places...i approve
