City in the Boroughs 2017 - Manhattan

Got my confirmation, I think I'll go.

Though I could use someone else to help me ask actually penetrating questions. Not that we're going to get any real answers but I do get tired of watching people answer softballs.

Anyone going, please feel free to ask one of these if you'd like...

Patricof Questions:
- Aside from the stadium and on field accomplishments, what are three goals or targets that the front office wants to achieve this year?
- Fans recently received a survey asking why the attendance in the first games were low. Is the front office worried about attendance at matches going forward? And does the attendance numbers we've seen recently have any bearing on the capacity for the soccer specific stadium, when it would be build, and the amount of land needed?
- Does the front office has a position regarding which mayoral candidate would be better suited towards NYCFC progressing to building a stadium? Is a vote against de Blasio a good vote?
- Can you discuss how the Yankees are part of the NYCFC's front office operations in our third year? How has the relationship growth or waned?
- With the Cosmos moving to MCU Park and playing in the five boroughs, has that changed the approach the front office takes towards marketing NYCFC?
- What steps is the front office taking to ensuring that unsporting supporters like those in Orlando that were arrested do not deface the picture of NYCFC fans as a whole?

Vieira Questions:
- NYCFC has some young players with interest from European clubs. How do you go about assessing whether the player is worth keeping on the roster or worth selling him for the money?
- We saw NYCFC being involved with Video Assistant Replay during preseason. What is your view regarding the use of video replay as MLS will have it during the second half of this season?
- Your contract with NYCFC ends after the 2018 season. If given an extension, would you take it?
- Can you give some discussion regarding what happened with Mix Diskerud being removed from a player from NYCFC?
- Do you feel slighted that you didn't win MLS Best Dressed Coach in 2016?
- James Sands was apart of NYCFC's preseason longer than initially reported and he displayed his talents well during preseason games. Do you feel he could contribute to the first team now? And are there plans to sign him to a first team contract this season?

Ethan White Questions (if you really want to ask him a question):
- When you're photographing an event or game, do you go by Norris or Ethan?
- Last year you were here and typically making the 18. Now, you've started two games at home at RB. What has changed in your training towards developing your game, or are you approaching your role in the team on the field different than last year?

I meant I need a patsy to ask more questions for me...

Yours are pretty good though.

Can someone who is going ask not for specifics, but if we'll get a "meaningful "update" with respect to the stadium this year?

It's only been 175 days since Patricof said anything about the stadium and it was just to say that there's no update. I wouldn't hold out any hope.

I'm sure it'll be asked and he'll say something about how everyone is working hard to find a suitable location. Yadda yadda... Whole bunch of nothing.

He spends a significant part of his day on it was the talking point last year.

Any of LionNYC LionNYC 's questions are more likely to get an interesting response than a stadium question. The answer to the stadium question will be rote. The answers to Lion's questions will likely be evasive and indirect, but could require them to think on the spot instead of reciting from memory.

Yahtzee. I'm not asking a stadium. I'm asking about stadium size.

Immediately I've noticed one thing. I need a new prescription for my glasses.

Many things, innuendo, non answers, and a suprising insight on future MLS TV revenues which I can't share publicly.

Reading between the lines, PV is going to put out the A- team for the US open cup. And he understands that the NJRB game is a derby we want to win but he has to keep pressure off the players so we play our best game.

I'm on my way home from the event. As far as a stadium update goes, Patricof said they're working on finding a site everyday. Said they need 10 acres + close to public transit. Also more "resources" have been to the search, whatever that means

???!!
Joke? They discussed something at a public event on condition that nobody repeat it?

Conversations can be public on a mic, more private off a mic. There's a difference. Out of respect to John I'm not going to talk about it on a public forum.

Every conversation I've had with Patricof or Reyna I post here. The maximum wait is two weeks. Go your public service duty and tell us.

And nobody asks about attendance and stadium size? Everyone knows that size matters.

He straight up said he will talk to me privately, but not on mic, and then proceeded to do so. I'm going to respect that.

Did he say "Off the record?"

At least answer this, your question about MLS TV revenue. That contract ends at 2022. I don't assume there will bbe changes prior to that, but there has been a bigger move towards social media streaming. Is is about that?

Contract ends 2022 as per normal. We had a short but enlightening discussion on the next contract and what its possible values might be. Based on the numbers bandied around, MLS probably got a sweetheart deal on the last contract. But what I will say without reservation is that it is the opinion of those in the know that soccer is very much the growth sport in the US.

Also PV thinks were only 10 years or so from being a genuinely top flight league. I think that probably has more to do with whats coming out of the academies now a days than it has to do with MLS's ability to attract top flight talent. Basically we have a lot of players who are going to be good, and other leagues' restrictions on foreign players works to our advantage.
