City Voice

Yes but in light of everything, do you think that vote was even legitimate?

Strange how the logo that most resembled MCFC's old logo won isn't it? (I really like our crest/logo)

Also strange how Melbourne City almost immediately after that got a carbon copy of the same logo:

We'll never know for sure, so it's what you believe, I suppose

What if MCFC goes back to their old logo next? Would you be more suspicious then?

Also, I don't know how they went about it. It could be they intentionally picked the ugliest logo for the one they wanted to win to go up against? It was a landslide, coincidence? It could be even if the other one won, they'd just say this one won.

Honestly, would you put it past them at this point? I wouldn't.

I'm terribly sorry you feel that way, but it's not too late to come back to the Light Side :D

Think about it though.

Its all about that branding.

CFG wanted MCFC, NYCFC, and MelCFC to all play in essentially the same jersey.

Now 2 of those 3 have similar enough logos that the branding shines through. "Conveniently" those logos just happen to sync up with how MCFC's old logo looked...

If MCFC switches back to their old logo (and I think they will either next season or when the stadium is finished) you'll never convince me that the logo vote was legitimate.

Yeah, it's branding, they're all part of the same group - I personally don't care about that - if we held out for a completely new and original team in NYC, we would be waiting forever - if something isn't a fact and hasn't happened yet, I try not to concern myself with it - but then again, I'm a glass-half-full kinda guy, which I'm sure is annoying

Obviously our logo vote was rigged. Who in their right minds would vote for that mess on the left. It's the ugliest logo I've seen in recent memory. It would look terrible on any merchandise let alone the kits that the players would be wearing. I mean if they wanted us to really vote, they would have given us two legitimate options. Not just the one they wanted and a piece of poop.

I never understood the shield design. I wasn't involved when the vote happened, but I would have voted for the circle. If you check the official explanation they say that the shield "design features the historic shield of the official Seal of New York City..."
Which is nice I guess but I do't think anybody knows or cares what the official seal of NYC looks like. Even a google image search for "official seal of nyc" or "official seal of new york city" doesn't turn it up, at least not anywhere near the top of the results, which are filled with NY state seals of seals of other cities in NY like rochester and buffalo.
And when has anyone ever said , written, or thought "You what's cool and really represents NYC? The official seal. Damn skippy." Never. SO I can't imagine the shield ever had much of a chance, except for folks who were very attuned to the whole old MCFC seal similarity, or people who just really like shields.

The Seal is in the center of the NYC flag. The shield is in the center of the Seal.
