Don't worry David, next year, we'll get you a real DP to play alongside you. Next year...

We play better on our front foot. Attack attack attack.

Sweat should be the 4th CB and 2nd LB moving forward. No reason not to. He fits our system to a tee as a deputy.

I'm still out on Struna. He played well tonight but we need a full time RB. And he takes up an international spot. I don't think he did anything tonight that RJ Allen hasn't done over the last two years offensively.

We saw a healthy Matarrita tonight. Both he and Wallace play better when they have one another. But we should still try and upgrade from Wallace if we can.

Harrison must be exhausted. For all the shit he takes on here, he's a 20 year old kid who was our second leading scorer this year. Maybe put his underwhelming end to the year on the supporting cast. How many teams wouldn't take a 20 year old RW with 10 goals? MAYBE Atlanta?

Maxi is a complementary player. That can't fly in MLS when you're on a DP contract.

The Okoli move was the right move.

The Pirlo move embarrassed me. When other clubs talk about us being a marketing ploy, this is what they mean.

Lewis came in, had one touch, and almost set up a goal. Should have come on with Okoli. Once Okoli came on and you no longer needed Wallace to play direct, Lewis was the move.

Johnson made one error tonight. He played a good match and had a season saving save.

All in - proud of what we did tonight as a team. But our season was a failure.

If anything, PV is stubborn and maniacal, not sentimental or compliant. That Pirlo sub wasn’t a sendoff or a directive. No way. It was a poor decision that back-fired because Pirlo predictably burned the last few minutes by committing the worst of crunch time sins with the goal kick gifts.

I feel like it was a bit of both - PV gave him an opportunity to go out on a high with one last bit of Pirlo magic. Which he promptly showed he no longer had. But yeah, either way Pirlo shouldn’t have been brought in at that moment.

I sit right behind the away goal (which ended up as the home goal for this game) and we all stayed counting off how long it took Steffan to kick for the ref to hear. Was always 20 seconds +.

This game was a great example of why the playoff format needs to change. Imagine how different the away game would have been if the home 2-0 win came first...

I think best of three, with 2nd and 3rd game at home would be better, and even a single game at the higher ranked team would be better than the current system.

And just because I'm late to the party, Pirlo coming in with anything less than a 2 goal deficit was an embarrassment. We're not Juve.

He has meant NOTHING to this team over 3 years. Lampard was far more impactful. Even the weak ovation he got was undeserved.

lot of Pirlo hate going on around here and i get it but its anger targeted at the wrong person.

The main reason we lost this series was because of 2 people. The main culprit being Callens and the number 2 being PV.

I didnt even hate the pirlo sub, i hate the fact that all our subs were made so late. Yeah Pirlo had some bad crosses in the dying minutes of the game but he only played the dying minutes of the game. Wallace made BAD simple passes all game to god knows who and yet nobody is crucifying him.

Our players were visibly gassed by the 70th minute... why is our first sub not Lewis for Wallace around the 75th?

Why does Okoli who has shown he has no desire to use his physicality to win a ball even coming into the game? But again if hes gonna come in why is he coming in so damn late?

Why do we sub out matarrita or struna at all? Again we desperately need a goal and they were our best attacking defensemen. I get you want to protect giving up a goal but that really doesnt matter if u cant fucking score one.

We needed a damn goal, we had tired legs and we did nothing about it until it was too little too late and even then the decisions were highly questionable.

That said, very proud of the heart our starting 11 put into that game. Wish we played every game that way.

ETA: great meeting you Schwallacus Schwallacus!! your knowledge of German beers is nothing short of astounding and i felt honored to share a Beck's with you. PROST!

Subs were a big issue with the end of this game. As many have said and seen, the decision to sub Lewis on to run around for essentially 2 minutes was retarded. Our attack failed the last 15-20 minutes due to Wallace being dead and many of our attackers running on dead legs.

Also, it seems like Mata gives Wallace a +10 ability boost to all his skills when they play together, like night and day between the ing having Wallace and Mata vs. Wallace and Sweat.

Sweat was admirable in stepping in to start at CB.

Struna was awesome, and I hope we keep him for next year. Get rid of RJ, since he seems to be shunned by PV anyway. The money he makes now for not being in the 18 is too much. I'd rather keep him over White, but White is so cheap and they are essentially the same level that I'd rather spend as little as possible for one or the other.

Imagine blaming Andrea Pirlo for the outcome of this match.

His first two touches were exquisite- in true NYCFC fashion nothing came of it- and his last 2 touches were awful. Clearly the result of rust.

I liked Struna a lot in this match. He’s a playmaker and doesn’t second guess himself .We’d be having a parade for him if we got the 3rd goal.

Not getting goal 3 is ALL on Jack “They Call Me Khiry” Harrison and Maxi. Plain and simple.

The team fought hard and excluding the last 12 minutes, it was a really fun match to watch.

Has anyone actually blamed Pirlo for the match? I've seen 4 people call it out and not one of them quoted anybody actually doing it. I see a lot of criticism of PV for subbing him in, and I see criticism of some poor passes. But blaming him for the result?
