With the Gold Cup coming up, decided to open up this thread for all Gold Cup 2017 talk.

The US kicks off their campaign with a warm up match vs. Ghana on Saturday (tomorrow).

Brad Guzan is the confirmed started. Wonder if we'll see Sean Johnson even get on the field during this tournament.

Brad Guzan shouldn't start anything except his pension paperwork.

The jerseys looked better than I thought they would...

A little too Barcelona 15-16 perhaps, but not so bad.

Rumours are that the confederations cup will be scrapped after this tournament.

I wouldnt mind seeing the Gold Cup moving to a 4 year schedule and the "Copa America Centenario" becoming every 4 years as well.

ie :

2019 - Gold Cup/Copa America

2021 - Copa America Centenario

2023 - Gold Cup/Copa America

2025 - Copa America Centenario

etc

The "centenario" was only for last year's tournament since it was the 100th anniversary.

I think ferrarinycfc ferrarinycfc meant that particular format in that it includes more concacaf teams and/or hosted in North America.

So in essence, 2019 would have a gold cup and a copa America in South America, then 2021 is the combined version.

If anyone is wondering whether or not USA game will be sold out I think that crowd answers it.
Also, if anyone is wondering why you don't displace Rodney, look at how he gets on the end of that ball over the top. The defender chased and took one step less than 100% because he thought it was too far.

Not for Rod. That guy is balls out all the time.

How did they play? Typically it's a wingback formation right?

Yes. Wallace did not play wingback, though. He was the leftsided midfielder. I don't even know what you would call his position, as he wasn't really a winger but he didn't come too far inside that I recall. I guess LAM if I were forced to name it.

On a sidenote, I watched some of Canada's match. Woof. They are freaking awful.

What the hell is French Guiana doing just lining up an ineligible player?

Ridiculous.
How fucking selfish. I understand that French Guiana wasn't going anywhere in this tournament anyway, so they don't care about the forfeit. And I know that the team and Malouda wanted him to play for sentimental reasons. But they just gifted 2 points to Honduras, who now have a much better chance to overtake Canada or Costa Rica, neither of who deserves to lose out just because the French Guiana federation lacks integrity.

Yeah, the 3-0 win could loom large.

The right answer is probably to take the point away from Martinique French Guiana but not give the 2 points to Honduras. Far from perfect, however, and they won't do it.
