Copa Libertadores 2018

they should aspire to be like aek fans instead

lol i was just going to reply something like this. Although the difference here it seems was it was "ultras vs ultras" though not ultras hurting players, though im sure a few innocent people got caught in cross fire.

Oh for the sake of fuck.

From the article
"TyC have looked into travelling to Doha. It will take 24 hours and the cheapest room for the night is almost $1,500 - €1,300."

someone asked on twitter why not UAE since thats where the CWC will be, apparently this is business move by conmebol since Qatar will be in the copa america next year, basically keep that "relationship" going

If Qatar really wants to win some soft power points, they'd cover the entire cost of flying in and accommodating half a stadium's worth of River fans and half a stadium's worth of Boca fans.

What kinda look would it be if they ended up causing mayhem tho?

Maybe it would distract from the whole "we have indentured servants in labor camps" look.

As part of the context of the Middle Eastern Cold War, most likely you'd have Saudi agents trying to stir up easy trouble. Of course, that may happen anyway.

soooo this nugget came out ( from reddit)

one of the directors of Nacional ( Uruguay team) said basically if Uruguay dont fix issues and vote on some new reforms they had within the federtion that they wont be in 2019 libertadores and sudamericana and that the backup plan is that MLS teams take those spots. That is 4 spots in libertadores and 4 spots in sudamericana.

Nycfc possibly failing upwards? lol what?

i think its just scare tactic down there to get voting going

Am I the only one who doesn't think there's any justification for North American teams (including Liga MX) participating in a South American championship?

I think the Western Hemisphere is slowly combining conferences. We saw the start of it with Copa America in the US. There’s too much money up North and too few competitive teams there to pay to watch. And if you disregard the Caribbean (they can become the new Oceana) we still pale in comparison to the amount of teams in Europe, Africa, and Asia. It makes too much sense. And if travel doesn’t kill the players, it sure will be fun.

You know, it's weird: I'm broadly in favor of combining CONMEBOL and CONCACAF in terms of national team competition (as long as we can all accept that the US may not qualify for the World Cup from time to time) because I think it will make the US better in the long run. But for whatever reason I think it's weird on the club team level to horn in on a very prestigious and old South American championship. I dunno.

so apparently tomorrow Uruguay FA has their vote on this, if they dont vote for it they are disqualified it seems by FIFA. IF that happens then its up in the air what actually happens with their slots. The draw is the 19th of December.

Sudameicana i get it. Should be South America..... Libertadores should be open to Concacaf.... I mean libertadores... We were all in some way liberated from European powers... Plus it was in honor of liberators which this hemisphere had.. Just my 2 condors
