Copa Libertadores 2018

I'm afraid this specific reference is going over my head.
Sorry, I was a bit vague.

From Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Libertadores): "The tournament is named in honor of the Libertadores (Spanish and Portuguese for liberators), the main leaders of the South American wars of independence,[1] so a literal translation of its name into English would be "Liberators of America Cup" or "Liberators of the Americas Cup"."

So the fact they are playing the final in the capital of the country that many of those countries were liberated from is grandly ironic.

Oh, of course, of course. Yes, it is funny.

At this point, they should disqualify both clubs and schedule a final between the remaining semi-finalists and issue a 10 year ban to both clubs from all continental competitions.

Both teams are engaging in a large amount of gamesmanship here. Boca should agree to play the game at River Plate, but they won't because of what happened. River Plate, for competitive reasons, has every excuse to demand the home game Boca got.

Its not just about it being a home game to them. Of all places to pick, they chose to have the game in Spain. The name of the damn Tournament is the Copa Libertadores. In reference to when they got their freedom from... guess who... SPAIN. That would be the equivalent of the USA planning an Independance Day tournament in England.

at this rate, dont play the final and send the copa sudamericana winner to the CWC.

Since this may be the last year of a two-legged final, might as well set a new tradition by making 2018 the first single-legged final AND allow this final and future Copa Libertadores finals to end in a draw. Weird! Interesting! Annoying to non-soccer nerds!

Guaranteed to start fights in Buenos Aires for the next hundred years!

Call it a draw and let them select a River-Boca all-star team for the CWC. That final against Real Madrid would be insane.

lmfao, have you seen the comments the boca players have said about river plate? no way they can even be in the same room as them even if there is a "draw"

So same as your typical Real Madrid squad, then.

nah man if it gets heated boca river players will probably throw hands and flying kicks at each other and fuck the consequences especially those that were brought up from the youth ranks.
