David Villa Sanchez [Forward]

Yeah, I'm not a big Twellman fan, but I don't think there's a ton here. He includes several markers within that tweet that shows he's being sarcastic and just having a little bit of fun.

I don't think he's humble enough for me to beleive he is sincerely joking. Sort of "I'm kidding... but I still have one on you."

Plenty of reasons to rag on TT but this tweet is not one of them.
Seriously. I'm shocked there was anyone not picking up on the fact that he's being blatantly self-deprecating.

I've never heard Twellman be boastful about his playing days. If we're completely frank about it, he's probably a bit under-rated by people.

( SanBartG SanBartG I disagree. He's exactly as arrogant as one should expect from a fairly good-looking former athlete of average intelligence. That background doesn't inspire a lot of self-examination. But even that may not be completely fair. When he's in a setting like a podcast where he can expound more, he's not a bad listen at all.)

You may be right. But it's not how he/his tweet came off to me. And his background may not inspire much self examination but it doesn't obligate me to shrug it off.

The times he is annoying in the booth is when he makes snap judgments, then will not give up on the point for the rest of the game. OK, we see its not a penalty, its makeup call. All is in balance with the world again. That's why human referees work for the game.

You're projecting ~25% of free kicks to be direct goals? No. 5-10% is quite good.
Also good and an improvement to not have 25% or more end up in the seat next to roxfontaine

Oddly enough, we haven't been drawing as many dangerous free kicks this year. Villa won't let the defenders get close enough to him when he has Rodney, Jack and Maxi to play alongside him. He legitimately thinks we're going to score from the run of play every time down.

What an odd selection of players to choose from:

David Villa - obviously makes sense
BWP - makes sense
Matt Hedges - great defender - I wouldn't put him in this poll, but maybe a best MLS defender poll (and I personally don't think he'd win that)
Stefan Frei - ummmm, had an awesome save on Jozy last year in the cup final to go along with a ton of routine saves (I still thought Roman Torres should have won MOTM for that one over him). He's only on here because of that. Top 10 keeper in MLS maybe
Andre Blake - wut?

No Giovinco, Kljestan (lets base this off of last year's form), Lodeiro (more-so last year's form), Piatti, Valeri?

Btw, happened to listen to 3four3 interview with him from about a week ago. It's almost 80 minutes long. (Looooong flight) Definitely worth checking out. He tells a pretty detailed story of his career.
