Dax to Chicago

As others have mentioned in other threads (including Tom in Fairfield CT and mgarbowski mgarbowski, I believe, in the Sched Thread) it's nearly impossible to predict which MLS teams will be easy outs. It doesn't take much for a team like Chicago to go from totally geek to totally chic.
That would be me from last year.

And while they were not good at all last year, I do think their coach is capable of taking newly acquired talent and turning them into a playoff contending team.

Total respect for Dax. This is a really interesting move. I guess between his cap hit and the GAM offered, NJ was okay dealing him. It's the same as if they had sold him internationally for $615K.

That said, he was their captain and a really important player for them. I would be shocked if they didn't already have a plan for replacing him and using the GAM. Maybe Duvall, but he will not be as good - at least not right away.

Tyler Adams is another holding midfielder they have. 17 year olds and starting for the US U20s.
I've thought he was pretty decent the few times I've seen him play - and by decent, I mean better than anyone not named Mix or Pirlo who is left in our midfield.

Various folks on twitterverse are covering a call or press conference with Dax, and he's ripping the RB, claiming that they handled the trade in a classless manner, etc.

We host the Red Bulls Sunday evening August 6. Dax plays the night before in Chicago. Maybe we should offer to fly him in and come sit in our supporters section for the game.

Have you seen their social media operations? What else would one expect?

Edit, quote from Dax:

At the end of the day, I totally respect Jesse’s decision to trade me for business reasons, if that’s his reason. If he wants to get guys, younger guys more minutes than I certainly agree with it in terms of trying to make the club better and move the club on. But I told Jesse to his face that I didn’t think the way that he handled it was appropriate and it certainly was a big surprise. I certainly thought the club could’ve gone about it a better way, but that’s life in professional sports. I respect Jesse as a coach. He’s a hell of a coach and I think he’s gonna do great things in his career as a coach — but obviously, as a person and a human being, I feel like things could’ve been handled differently and that’s a big shame.”

Also, I was catching up on Blue City Radio last night (ep 103 from 1/31) and Mike and thesauerchise had Chris Wingert on as a guest. Although we have kind of contrasted how his trade/release was handled, it wasn't all roses. He mentioned that when the club came to him, it was 3 days before pre-season, which made it much harder for him to find another team because many had already solidified their rosters. He didn't cite any specific teams but did say that he spoke with other GM's etc who said that if thy had known earlier they would have picked him up
