*Kevin Brown fuckery*

Fuck him. I tried giving him a pass as a genuinely good guy who just like to bust balls. Tried talking to him at a rivalry week event last year and this dude took it from ball busting and banter to flat out disrespect. I'm a person that recognizes that we need to earn our stripes in the league; as a team and as supporters. So I'm willing to take some shit when talking to people in and around the league. This guy is something else though.

I do not like him as a person. Nothing to do with soccer. I hope to never cross paths with him ever again.

Looks like he reads the forums. He needs to learn to take a hint. Some people are very serious about the professionalism in media and journalism.

Like Michelle Obama said, "When they go low, we go high...to the executives at MLS Digital and let them know our thoughts rather than engage in a mindless Twitter battle."

Also for the record, never that it matters, I never wrote, "Kevin Brown fuckery"

Then I saw this Tweet of his. He still doesn't understand my point. The joke is fine, the medium is not. Make all the jokes you want on the Red Bull blogs, not on a league broadcast that supposed to have integrity and impartiality. I've never seen an individual wear an article of clothing from a team during a league broadcast. He did and crossed the line.

Wow - that is really unprofessional regardless of which team he's shitting on. I agree that a league sponsored show should not have some fanboi on it acting like this guy.

Hahaha that's the guy you guys are talking about?! He's such a joke, he 'covered' our inaugural home game and was interviewing people by all the bars. Then BBSC and a bunch of us surrounded him and started chanting. Looked like he never heard a football atmosphere in his life. I honestly completely forgot about him after the first couple of games last season. He's completely irrelevant.
I find it hilarious that they browse our forums. No one ever posts anything from theirs over here. Because we truly don't care. But I gets tons of redirects via analytics from their forums. Which are actually hosted on a militia-team website. Similar to their stadium very few fans actually attend.
With how much shit they talk you'd think they were selling out and had a waiting list.

I agree a lot with your post but I really do feel as though the FO did go out and try to secure defensive help this offseason. They went out and got Mata who has been fantastic, and Diego Martinez has been a serviceable LB (even though PV doesn't seem to fully agree).

They went out and got Brillant, and he has been solid in my eyes, and then in the summer window went and grabbed Chanot.

I definitely think there is more work to do to solidify the back line such as getting rid of Hernandez and Mena, and bringing in another CB, etc. But I don't think our defensive limitations is completely on the FO (at least yet, and though I do agree with you 100% on Ethan White). This, IMO, is just another factor of some of the struggles of creating a roster from scratch, and then cutting the fat where you can and within MLS rules.

On the last paragraph quoted here, I also disagree with Iraola isn't comfortable playing out of the back. I think he's shown many games he is very very capable of doing it. He obviously had an egregious fuck up yesterday. It was terrible, but I think that play was the exception with Iraola moreso than the rule.

These are good points. It's also worth noting all the injuries we have had across the back line. During the second half yesterday, for example, we were missing 3/4 of our starters across the back. Matarrita has started 22 of 33 possible games; RJ Allen 18/33; Brillant 30/33. Chanot 4/11.

Jeez, now I fully understand mgarbowski's concerns with using one's real name on here. You never know when some MLS pundit is going to present your post to the twitterverse out of context. But hey, free publicity! Give us all your ad clicks.

Kevin Brown is clearly not an MLS pundit. Don't give him that sanctification.

Lol i just wasn't sure what else to call him. He was on an MLS production, that's enough for me to tie him to them. Honestly the whole twitter war afterwards is worse to me than his bias during the broadcast. I demand garberbux as reparations.

again....you all getting caught up with bloggers....and the MLS site always puts anything out there related to SUM. hell they even write articles about rumors when a player come is rumored to come to MLS. even if its waaay out of MLS reach.

they all have their agendas its just how it is in sports in this day and age...no matter the medium.

What he said is fair. It's the medium he said it on which bothers me, an MLS Digital broadcast. If this was his personal Twitter account, okay. But something aired for the purposes of the league platform is unprofessional.

I don't have a problem with the platform either. It's entertainment, watching a bunch of analysts stay a neutral as possible and only talk positives is boring. Controversial opinions make people want to watch, they make the show fun, they help build interest in the league. Embrace the hate, being the villain is fun. As long as we have 3 big name DPs, as long as we play in a league with cheap owners while ours drops $6 plus on each DP we will always have a target on us. It will just make it all the better when we succeed and we get to watch them sit there deal with it.

This is a great point. Larger leagues have the benefit of an established private media structure around the league that spans the spectrum from the official league media outlet to tabloids and blogs. MLS clearly recognizes that this structure doesn't exist for the league and they have decided as an MLS entity to try to fill the content gap. So we get rumors/blogs/opinions etc from official MLS media outlets. Until the league grows to a point where private sources are providing a reasonable amount of content, I can't say I disagree with the approach. But I do understand it's strange when baselined against the type of content we are typically used to seeing from the official media outlets of other North American professional leagues.

While he was with the LA Galaxy, Cobi Jones contributed to a number of wins for that team against DC. IIRC, 1998 or 2002 when they won the SS, they beat out DC.
Helpful for those of us who don't have long-dated MLS experience. I was sitting there with my daughter who saw the banner before me, and asked "Dad, who is Cobi Jones and why does he suck?" As I hadn't seen the banner at that point, I couldn't fathom how she came up with the question!

Anyone (mildly) disappointed in Mullins that he went full on celebration against us when he scored the goal?
Not really, remember our home opener last year when he scored against NER his old team. He celebrated then. I don't see why he shouldn't celebrate after scoring a goal against us. I'd be really disappointed if he did some thing as an FU to our team during his celebration. But he didn't so I'm fine with what he did
