So I'm playing around with the data from ASA. Put together a google sheet to fix their bad data habits.

Feel free to copy the sheet and use.

I did a brief simplistic analysis of everyone who has 15 cumulative goals from 2015 through present. Here are the guys who standout in G-xG. Of them, Piatti is the major "skill" guy. Larin may actually deserve to be in the standout group. Altidore and Barrios are physical freaks in a lot of ways, but no one has ever confused them for people whom one would call "clinical".

Ignacio Piatti 6.7
Michael Barrios 7.34
Jozy Altidore 8.36
Cyle Larin 9.58

I love how Chanot joins the team to celebrate and then immediately looks around like DC is going to kick the ball off and score while he is out of position unless he keeps an eye on them.

Chanot was also having a "Joe Hart" tunnel cam moment before the team went out. Everyone is waiting in silence and he gave a rally cry - something like "Let's go BLUE!"

While I was disappointed that Vieira took Villa off the field after he scored his second goal, this substitution was because Villa is trying to keep his legs healthy.

MLS season is a marathon, and we need our players at their best down the stretch especially into the postseason. Say with these large leads (if they can continue), we can sub out Pirlo and Villa both 15-20 minutes early. And say we have a big enough lead 5-6 times during the season. That's a minimum of 75 minutes saved during the course of the season, nearly a full game.

It's the Popovich approach. Keep your older players off the field when they don't need to be, even if it upsets the fans, so they can play when it does matter at their best.
