France Ligue 1 2017/2018

I like that idea. I would also suggest following the Nats Abroad account on twitter

I think Bigsoccer has something like "Yanks abroad" as loath as I am to copy anything from them. We do have the US Men's NT thread but some of these guys aren't part of the full squad so I think it might deserve it's own thread.

Huge result and performance from L'OM today goes a long way to making up for Citeh for me. The fact that they did it knocking out a Red Bull family member making it all the sweeter. Most pundits seemed to favor good ol Rasen Ballsport . I don't think the Bundesliga is really any better than ligue one once you get past Bayern right now. Kind of hoping Marseille draw Salzburg next and knock out too Energy drink teams in a row. Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the CL thread or start a new thread for Europa league. If anyone cares even an iota let me know, lol.

BUMP

Hopefully it won't be careful what I wish for. Would love to knock out another RB team and make it to the final. I'd imagine Marseille will be the underdog against either Arsenal or Atletico but I also imagine it would be a near home field advantage despite Lyon being massive rivals I'd have to think the short trip would make it a near home game in the final.

Florian Thauvin is having one of the best seasons in Europe and it's a shame how overlooked it is because not that many people watch/rate Ligue one. 19 goals and 10 assists in 31 matches as a winger. I just OM can find a way to hold on to him as I can see some of the big boys coming in including Bayern as a possible replacement for Ribery or Robben.

Both Thauvin and (only tangentially related) Fekir have been rumored as Liverpool targets.

Personally, if Fekir can stay healthy, I think I prefer him for Liverpool. But you are correct to point out how good Thauvin is.

Reasonably happy and reasonably satisfied with the 2-0 win over Salzburg in the first leg today . Not conceding an away goal could prove vital. The Austrian Energy drinks have made 2nd leg comebacks against solid teams from bigger leagues already so not counting them out yet. Payet seems to be coming into form at the right time. For the end of the Europa league, Marseille's run in to try to get 3rd in Ligue one and CL spot for next year and to be part of France's plans for the World Cup.

Bumping myself again:

Well they couldn't do it the easy way but L'OM are in the Europa final. I hate to give credit to an energy drink owned team but Salzburg are no push overs for a team from such a small league. Marseille will of course be huge underdogs to Atletico but anything is possible in a one off. It's been years but I've already see them lose in the final of this competition twice when it was still called the Uefa Cup, don't want to make it a hat trick.
