Tinny introduces himself to the home crowds in the most emphatic style:

Villa rounds off his 100th appearance with an easy tap-in:

And after a slightly nervy second half, we get our second win of the campaign under our belts:

61% possession, looking very good for the new style and it's so great to say that there are so few weak links. The attacking play in particular is really starting to look quite hot. Just think what it'll be like after half a season...

Medina is the truth. I missed the opener. Was he as influential?
Nope. He was very good today though.

Igbeagha (?) won everything in the air. What a pickup if he keeps on at that level.

One day, Ben Sweat might defend. It wasn’t this one. God knows, it wasn’t this one. Probably the worst 1v1 defender we’ve ever had, but it says something he keeps playing.

Ring and Maxi were terrific in midfield, too. Looking forward to re-watching.

Impossible to be sure not knowing enough about LAG yet, but my inclination is to say this was one of the top 5 best games we’ve ever played.

It’s no joke to go against that LA midfield - it’s comparable to a bottom 8 PL one.

Well done, it seems right now.

Good result. I think I underestimated how this team would perform this year.
Despite absolutely loathing our RBs for the entirety of our existence, excepting Struna, I failed to fully comprehend the difference it would make to have 10 outfield players who understand intelligent movement.

It’s night and day to have Sweat not be a chump with one run and Tinny is a monster addition. Probably end up the best RB in the league.

Our patterns of play are far less predictable and much more intelligent.

And I still don’t get people slacking on Wallace. If you don’t see why he starts, I just can’t be messageboard pals with you. The guy is just a general menace. If he could finish, he’d start for 15 PL teams.

Ring is still the signing of the club’s history. And it backs up why a lot of folks still around here said we needed a destroyer from day 1. He’s worth 12 points a year, as is any good DM on any MLS team. Silly we didn’t do that from year 1.

Nothing not to be happy about with this one (other than Sweat not defending, at all, but that’s just how it be).

You do realize that the 1 goal given up this season did not come from Sweat’s side of the field, right? He may not be pretty, but holy hell for his cap price, he’s the best LB value in the league as a competent defender that adds selectively to the offense.

Nothing you say is wrong, per se. eta: except that Ben Sweat was literally defending the guy who creates that goal.

Did you see him 1v1 today? He got skinned multiple times - pretty much any danger resulted from him being 1v1. Can you imagine the damage if Callens weren’t so damn good?

Again, nothing you’re saying is wrong. He’s just a shit defender at fullback. Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate what he does do. I do. He found some speed somewhere, which is a huge bonus. And he’s become a far more intelligent attacker. He just can’t defend. Like at all. Just how it is, like I said. Nothing to suggest it will change, so we live with it and make do best we can.

But Sweat was on that side. Him and Tinnerholm had switched, and it was Sweat who Lletget beat for the ball that he passed to Boateng, who then crossed it for Dos Santos
