MLS H2H league for "points"

We can't be supporting Gio right now in such a tight battle for the top of the conference table. I'm dropping him for the rest of the season, and I implore the rest of you to do the same (fingers crossed behind back).

By mid-September we'll all probably have nearly identical teams!

Raise your hand if you have a Villa-Gio-Larin front line.
It was really interesting to fight for a top spot last year. Everybody had essentially the same 8-9 players and the only way to move up at all was to make the right captain picks and hope the 2-3 low price players on your roster came through. I finished in the money in Fans of NYCFC because Victor Ulloa scored in the last 10 minutes of the last game and the guys in spots 2 and 3 didn't have him (because he was a lousy pick, they had more money to spend on better players).

I don't want to talk about this season.

Shit, was traveling last week and didn't get my transfers in. With all the byes this round, it's wildcard time.

You should save your wildcard for one of the big double game weeks for 2 reasons. 1) you have more to gain during those weeks and, 2) I play you this week.

In recent weeks, I have lost three times by one point, another time by two points. Doh!

Ok, here we go guys! First round of our Pigeon Cup knockout stage. We have some big matchups here!

On the left side of the bracket we have joe joe vs Sabo Sabo . joe joe may be towards the bottom of our table, but was the top scoring team in the group stage. Sabo Sabo is one of our better fantasy players. Not an easy draw for either of them, but no draws are easy at this stage of the game.

We also have JayH JayH vs FredMertz FredMertz on the left side. JayH JayH has had a solid team all season, and only finished 2nd in his bracket by way of points scored tiebreaker. FredMertz FredMertz is ruthless and even took out his own son to get here. It should be no holds bared for this one.

On the right side I have to go up against SoupInNYC SoupInNYC . Both of us are strong teams who have been playing well in recent weeks and had almost identical scores in the group stage, even if I won my group and JayH JayH finished 3rd. We should have quite the matchup.

And lastly, we have the matchup of the week. Mario gets to take on mgarbowski !!! Mario has been in good form the last month plus and was the 2nd highest scoring team in the group stage. mgarbowski is on a self-imposed hiatus from the forums, but that hasn't stopped him from keeping his fantasy team in top shape and champions league position. Will mgarbowski advance further in the Pigeon Cup? Will he actually comment on it if he does? Will he comment if he possibly wins? Maybe even share some stats with us? That's what makes this cup so exciting!

Good luck everyone, and may the force be with you!

No fun bringing in De Leeuw today. And it turns out he is injured. That's gonna leave a mark!

So as we head into Sunday's matchups, we have some close matches in our Pigeon Cup. Starting in the top left of the brackets:

Sabo Sabo leads joe joe 55-41. Sabo Sabo still has Dos Santos & Steres left to play. joe joe has Rowe, Steres, Moor, BWP & Altidore. It's very likely that 14 point lead could disappear by days end. This one could come down to the wire!

JayH JayH & FredMertz FredMertz are all knotted up at 39. FredMertz FredMertz still has Rowe, Steres, Littlefinger, Dos Santos & BWP. JayH JayH also has Rowe, Steres & BWP. With a sub coming in for de leeuw, possibly Felipe or BlackJack Harrison's 9 points. I'd say FredMertz FredMertz has the advantage, but this is fantasy and anything can happen.

In my matchup with SoupInNYC SoupInNYC, we have the highest scoring affair of the day. I hold a narrow lead 66-63. SoupInNYC SoupInNYC still has Steres & Dos Santos going today. But, so do I! So, unless there's some unseen subs coming in for SoupInNYC SoupInNYC, I should hold onto my narrow lead and move on to the next round.

And in the last bracket, of course mgarbowski is moving on. Could we expect anything less? The man has a 64-26 lead over Mario with many of his players today covered by mgarbowski. I wonder he'll come out of hiding to give his projections on his chances of winning the cup? You know he has it somewhere on a spreadsheet.

Good luck today everyone! I'll be apple picking if the weather holds up, but will try to update during the week!

Pontius is my sub for Dos Santos so its a 20 point lead on Joe while he has Moor, BWP, and Altidore playing the final game of the round.

Whatever the outcome I am declaring myself the kharmic winner for avoiding Toronto and NJRB (with a J) players in the Cup while they are trying to knock us out of the 1-2 seed in reality.

S sbrylski your end of season push for top of table is scaring me a little bit.

It ain't over until it's over!

Your magic number is just 6 though, with five matches left. Even if I go 4-1 and you go 1-4, you win. I need to win out (including beat you in Week 32), and you can only win one more game.

I am proud of my 3 top 500 finishes in the last 5 weeks though. If only I didn't fail to submit a lineup 4 weeks ago.

And then there were FOUR. We're up the the FINAL FOUR semi-finals of the 1st inaugural Pigeon Cup!!!!

I jinxed myself last week by talking about how I had to win since SoupInNYC SoupInNYC & I had the same players going and I had the lead. Of course Dos Santos doesnt play and SoupInNYC SoupInNYC 's auto-sub puts him into the lead for the win...

He gets to go up agains mgarbowski, who I'm sure is watching. mgarbowski got here by taking care of business with Mario, whose score would have won or tied all the other quarterfinal matches last week. mgarbowski needs to come out of his self imposed hiatus if he makes the finals! Right???

On the other side joe joe continues to show that his slow start to the season was a fluke, as he's used his hot team to reach the Semis of the PC! He took out Sabo Sabo by 10 points for the largest margin of victory this round.

joe joe will be playing "No Mercy" FredMertz FredMertz. After crushing his own son to get to this point FredMertz FredMertz took out JayH JayH (who always wanted this to be the Bluebird Cup anyway) with a narrow 74-70 win.

Who will make our First ever finals to be played in a few short weeks???
joe joe vs FredMertz FredMertz | SoupInNYC SoupInNYC vs mgarbowski

Tonight, let the battle commence!!!
