Hearts Of Oak

Our blue isn't azzurri. It's celeste. If we were in Italy, they'd have another color added to it, as well. Arancione celeste or bluceleste. (orange & sky blue or navy & sky)

Forza bluceleste!! Forza New York CITY!!!!
Is azzurrino a light blue color? Azzurrini?

Celeste is technically a light blue, but you can call them Azzurri, it still makes sense. Napoli is a light blue and they're called the Azzurri like the National team which is a darker blue.

Ask any Italian, in Italy, what color we are. It's not azzurri. Technically, it might be accurate - - - but in practice, nobody would call us azzurri.

Napoli has that nickname from long before they switched to sky/light blue.

I'm 100% Italian, I speak Italian, so does all of my family, and most folks would just say Azzurri. Technically, the NYCFC colors is celeste, but either name would work in my book.

I'm not even Italian hahaha! I write for a Serie A website (forzaitalianfootball.com), and love Italian footy (Forza Roma!). I asked my colleagues on Slack, and they all said that hands down, we're celeste. They told me to stay away from biancoceleste....which they didn't have to say b/c that nickname makes me nauseous :). They all reserve "Azzurri" for the national team alone, aside from a couple Napoli guys. They did say they prefer the "Partenopei" nickname. They agreed that bluceleste would work, but some of them were partial to "arancione celeste". We agreed that the latter would be tough to sing!!!

We can call our boys Blue Knob Jockeys for all I care, as long as we support the bloody 'ell outta of 'em!

Oh cool, I read that site. Good stuff.

Sure, celeste is correct. That is definitely the technical name for NYCFCs color, but azzurri works fine also, considering that it's a US team, no one will confuse it with the Italian National team. The only team in Seria A that uses celeste is Lazio, every other team with the color blue uses azzurri or blu.

Anyway, like you said it doesn't matter. Just semantics.

Napoli once wore a darker tone.

Whatever it's is I hate using it in fifa. Can't tell between me and a white jersey. Then I try to do a mutual quit and of course the guy refuses it. SOB!!!!

This guy is modest about loving Serie A . He is a card carrying member of a Roma SG in the city(which I hope to join)
My family went to Rome thanksgiving week 2013. Went to a Roma home game and it was the best sporting event of my life (and I was at the WS game when Reggie Jackson hit 3 home runs on 3 pitches)
2 days later we got off the subway and there was a political rally going on and I said to my wife and kids "thats
Berlusconi, lets go" we ran up and grabbed a few flags which we pinched and brought home. My favorite video ever is me waving this flag at a political rally in Europe
