Likely another cold one next week as NYCFC host Montreal on Saturday.

Kickoff 2pm 03/18
YES Broadcast & WFAN
Looking to build off our 4-0 win against DC as Montreal will be coming off a Seattle draw and a loss to San Jose

It's a home game. Montreal travels to us.

See that result today? Montreal, you come to us.

Yeah I used the MLS app and it didn't show venue so I assumed with NYCFC being listed first it was an away game. Didnt realize we finally adopted the world method of first team is the home team.

Montreal will either come out guns blazing over dropping three points to Seattle at the death or without heart over dropping three points to Seattle at the death...

I watched most of Montreal's 2 games. They had absolutely nothing the first game -- I don't think they even attempted a shot inside the penalty area. Then they were totally outplayed by Seattle this week and it was ridiculous to give up a goal at the death to drop 2 points. Piatti is great, but they put a lineup on the field where the average age was over 30.

DC is a better team than Montreal. Expect Montreal to try to put 8-9 behind the ball, clog the lanes and try to steal one on the counter. Having Callens in back makes it unlikely we will be exposed by the counter to Odero.

I think Montreal has the second highest expected GA over the first two games. Time to get to work.

And yeah, they will pack it in and expect to release Piatti and Oduro on the counter. Look for another 65%+ possession from NYCFC.

Callen's speed will be an amazing asset against Oduro. SJ also has shown a promising level of quickness and decisiveness in coming off his line at the right times to break up the ball over the top. Between the two and a healthy Chanot we have a legit chance of playing the high line PV wants without being completely reckless.

I know Montreal has been weak so far, but is there a better midfielder at working the counter in MLS than Piatti?

Piatti is easily my favorite non-NYCFC player to watch in MLS. I do think that our D does well against skilled players that can't beat them with physicality and/or simple size and speed. Not being too too aggressive in the defensive third with Nacho will hopefully allow us to stay organized -- but it'll be on the front 6 to play with the same tenacity as yesterday.

In addition, my former rep who moved up to premium sales emailed me to let me know that suites that normally go for $6,400 will only be $3,600 on Saturday. So bargains at all ends of the price spectrum.

  • 12:30pm – Yankee Stadium gates open to the general public.
    • Stop by Gate 2 to get your game face on with free hair and face painting provided by Face Art by Melissa. This area will be open from doors until the start of the 2nd half.
  • 1:15pm – Your Boys in Blue take to the pitch for warmups.
  • 1:50pm – Be in your seats as pregame ceremonies begin and we announce the Starting XI.
  • 1:58pm – Have your scarves ready as the Tunnel of Honor leads New York City’s Starting XI onto the pitch.
  • 2:01pm – Join in with recording artist, Amy Rivard as she performs both anthems. The Canadian and American colors will be presented by the NYPD Ceremonial Unit.
  • 2:06pm – Get ready for kickoff with the 2017 version of our intro video narrated by LL Cool J.
I don't want a Canadian singing the national anthems when we play a Canadian team. I want an American singing both anthems.

Let's hope Montreal doesn't show up and our team shows up like they did against DC. Locking the home wins are key for us.

I hope they do show up. Lets have a good tough game. Those are the games that build character for a championship team. Dc did not challenge our defense and they need to deal with top notch forwards like piatti.
