Will Pirlo find his way back into the lineup? In the interest of getting points, let's hope not!
Which formation and lineup will PV go with? Something that works, or some experimental shit that makes no sense and costs us points? You never know what to expect.

Btw, if you have resale tickets listed through TM, for some reason they are not showing up for this game. You may want to move them to Stubhub or exchange them for another match.

I was going to take my work colleague from Atlanta who I got into soccer recently since Atlanta United came about. He's now becoming more aware of MLS, US Soccer, and European football. Unfortunately, it's the same day as the company's family day game at Citi Field for the Mets game where he will be attending with his wife and both families.

Still want to see our young midfield with a combo of Maxi, Ring, Herrera, and Camargo. Still not sold on our LB situation with Mata out. Hope to get Villa back for this one.

Another critical Eastern conference game fighting for points early. Must win at home.

I can see Atlanta being devastating on the counter attack on our tiny pitch. Not sure if I would prefer Pirlo's solidity on the ball or Herrera's ability to recover it. Might be a good game to go 3 at the back and pack the middle and then we get it all.

We'll probably need Callens' pace, shaky form not withstanding, and then we avoid the LB problem.

Somehow, in the space of 2 weeks, left wing became a problem spot. Maybe Camargo in for Wallace? Maybe Lewis.

I was thinking the same kinda. I think you need both in a game like this. The only way to have Pirlo and Herrera on is with a 3BL. Pirlo will be steady with the ball but too slow to cover defensively. The little we've seen of Herrera shows that he gets a little careless with the ball and Atlanta will pounce on those turnovers. Have to stack the middle.

The funny thing is I've seen Maxi play more of a
DM role than any of our midfielders at times.

The only thing I am certain of is Tommy will NOT be on the pitch.

This is the type of team you can't play Pirlo against. Yet he didn't play last night.

Would he sit him two weeks in a row?

I have a bad feeling we'll see Pirlo because A. We're home on a small field, and B. We're going to learn Hererra has concussion-like symptoms.

I hope Hererra is ok, and Pirlo has no business being on the field against a fast & young counter-attacking team. If he's out there, our midfield is going to be overrun.

The pattern is not winning every odd game and winning every even game.
That's the short term pattern but the longer pattern could be:
L-W-D-W-L-W-L-W-W-L-W-L-W-D-W-L

Plus I'd really like to win 3-4 in a row. Enough alternating or even symmetry.
That's 51 points on the season. I'd take that. Last year we had 54 points and second place in the east. Would definitely like another 4 wins though if anyone's asking my opinion.

I know. I actually did the math (not a surprise). And we'd have a minimum of 52 points if we continued to alternate wins with one tie in the bank. We could reasonably expect to exceed last year's point total with a normal number of draws. Yet it would still probably seem oddly unsatisfying.
