Maxi running in the training video, but his calf was heavily taped. Brandi Chastain also still looking pretty good.

Put him on the bench just in case we need something a little bit extra in the last 30 mins.

There is absolutely zero reason we should be endangering or slowing a full recovery for Minnesota.

He's not going to be on the 18 tomorrow. And I don't think he'll make the trip to Vancouver for the game a week from today.

With those two games off plus the two week MLS break due to the Gold Cup, hopefully he's healthy for the double game week of Toronto and Chicago four weeks from now.

So absolutely no reason not to play the same lineup as last game with the wild cards being:
Sweat/Mata
RJ/White
TMac/???

Edit: what Gotham Gator Gotham Gator said about GK. Figured it was a given but Rawls could always factor in if not ruled out in post.

Play your best offensive line-up. That may mean Sweat and Allen at fullback OR Mata as the LB and White as the RB. Play these guys on the front foot. They can poach a goal. Their defense is poor. Go right at them.

WTF Minnesota, that's 7 down on a 23 man roster. The Loons' cant even fill out a full 18 without emergency call ups.

Not only is Minnesota porous in defense, but Kallman has been there best defender and he is out.
Burch has also started 12 games for them in the back. This is an incredibly shorthanded Loons team that is poor as is. I said this in post #2, we really should win by a few goals. This game should look like MNU's first two did.

Was disappointed to see Demidov was on the injured list. When I saw they had that many out I half-hoped they would be forced to play him. He hasn't seen action since early April and is widely blamed as being the primary cause of their early season defensive catastrophe.

Keep the same Starting XI, except Lurch for Johnson and Matarrita back in for Sweat.
I can't disagree with this, but Molino, Ibarra or anyone else taking cracks from outside the box with Lurch in makes me nervous.

I guess I still have PTSD from watching 85 or so games with a non-existent midfield. Ring and Herrera should help us close down alright.

It really is key for us to control this game. We know Lurch isn't likely to bail us out even 1 or 2 times like SJ often has. (And no, I really can't let go how bad some of those goals he gave up against TFC were.)

I did some poking around on Minnesota's lineups at the beginning of the season and then more recently. Calvo has been pretty regular throughout at one CB. Demidov was indeed the CB in their blowout losses and was eventually replaced by Kallman. Neither is available in this game.

MLS.com seems to think the big Jamaican, Jermaine Taylor, gets the nod in central defense. He was a regular starter for Houston and then Portland for several seasons prior to this, but he has struggled for time in Minnesota. He has started 3 games so far for the Loons, at FB in the first two games (blowout losses), and at CB in a recent 3-0 defeat to SKC.

Worth noting two other changes that Minnesota made after those early blowouts. They put Bobby Shuttleworth in at goalkeeper, and they added Sam Cronin as a CDM, going with the double pivot in a 4-2-3-1. Both should be available on Thursday night.

NYC pitches a shutout with zero shots on goal by MNU.

If Mata is available, he plays. Question is how match fit he is? Can he go 60? Can he go only 30? Nice little subplot tonight. Don't mind him as an offensive sub 55-60 minutes in

He is an instant impact sub at 60min. Rested, jitterbug legs are deadly to a tired defense, especially one that's been bruised by Wallace all game.
