Transportation question here:

Im from upstate and not sure of the subway quirks. I have an appointment in the Garment District that ends around 6:30. I was planning on catching the D train at Herald Square to YS. But then i saw that the D train runs express in the Bronx during rush hour. Will this be a problem for me?

(Sorry for the personal post.)
Nah, you're good. The D stops at Yankee Stadium.

Edit: I concede to mgarbowski mgarbowski. I've never had the problem, but if he has, then it's a possibility.

Sometimes I have taken a D and it says it will stop locally at 161st Street on game days, but usually not. You probably want to transfer across the platform at 125th Street or 145th Street. In fact, if you're waiting tat 34th Street and a B comes first, you might consider taking it. There is no guarantee that a D will follow shortly, and overtake both the B you skipped and the one in front of that. Unless it does so you have not gained anything by waiting for the D. I see no need for apology either.

maybe im a child but i cant stop laughing at taking the D and waiting for the D and that theres no guarantee that the D will follow shortly

I usually take the 4 train but the times I've taken the D I've had that concern but it's always stopped at the Stadium. Not a guarantee, of course, but that's been my experience.

Sometimes they will stop at 161st for Yankee games (and as mgarbowski mgarbowski said you might also be able to grab the B as well), but I'd try to get over and grab the 4 if you can just so you know that you'll get there without having to worry about which train will be stopping there at that moment.

Last time I took the D -- not sure but I think it was the New England Wednesday game in May -- I stayed on past 145th and a bunch of us ended up at Tremont Avenue, and having to transfer to the downtown platform.

ETA: Until then I thought they always made the adjustment for game days. I saw a couple people in NYCFC gear get off at 145th but 80% stayed on, so the wisdom of crowds thought the same as me. Then, like I said, we ended up at Tremont. Since then I've assumed the D is express unless I hear a specific announcement.

I think i depends on when 'rush hour' ends. I think the time i need is right on the border.

According to this, the 4 train skips 161st St today...

I got stuck on the express for an earlier evening game, ignored it, and ended up several stops past Yankee Stadium. No fun. Listen for announcements and watch the crowd. You can transfer a couple of stops earlier, and it does end up being quicker if you don't go past your stop.

By the way, I am not expecting Sturna to get a run out tonight. The announcement of his signing said he was still awaiting his visa, so unless that comes during the day, our next game is the best we can hope for.

That may be a midday service change - they do that fairly often (happens here in Astoria a lot). I highly doubt it'll be skipping 161st closer to the game, since it's a high traffic stop to begin with.

If you're near Penn or Port Authority, as an alternative you can take or transfer to the C to 155th and walk over Macomb's Dam bridge to the stadium. Of course this may be a terrible option if it's pouring.

With the recent USMNT performances and the dearth of players we have available, this could be the most depressing 14 days for club and country.

Im a season ticket holder....and just got pitchside tickets from employer...other day would have been excited...but somehow weather, and roaster changes.....

I've actually found the rainy days as the best pitch side says as long as you're wearing a rain jacket and are good with being outside. It's typically emptier and thus you can really hear what's going on on the field.

5-1 Colorado was one of the best of these days.
