Ever since expansion, we tried to be the best…So what happened?
The pundits and press all said we could do it…So what happened?

It was supposed to be all so exciting, to be lifting the cup in the Bronx
But I allowed my faith to be shaken – oh, what’s the matter with me?
I’ve always longed to get every scarf and do the things the Red Bulls couldn’t
This was the time for us to step up, so then why did we shit the bed?

An elbow to Meram in the face – what’s a red card about that?
I must trust that NYC is mightier and I'll always have their back
Now I must be completely devout, I can’t have even one shred of doubt.

I believe that Villa will score a hat trick.
I believe that Harrison will have his first touch.
And I believe that Patrick Vieira will actually have a Plan B this time.
I support City,
And an NYC fan just believes.

You cannot just believe part way, you have to believe in it all.
My problem was doubting Vieira’s tactic, instead of cheering loud.
I can’t allow myself to have any doubt, it’s time set Lewis free.
Time the show the world was New York City is about, and get a victory three to zero (or by a four goal margin if Columbus score)!

I believe that Ring will make every tackle.
I believe that Sweat will make a decent center back.
And I believe, that the current goalkeeper behind the posts Sean Johsnon will stop every shot.
I support City,
And, dang it, an NYC just believes!

I know that I must go and do the things my team commands.
I realize now we are back in the Bronx.
If you ask the Soccer Gods in faith, they will always answer you.
Just believe in this team and have no fear.

Steffen! We have an intruder! He just walked right onto the field!

I believe that Villa will score on you.
I believe that Moralez will send in the assists.
And I believe that in 2017, Vieira changed his mind about always playing out of the back.
You can support City,
An NYC who just believes.

The fuck is this?

And now I can feel the excitement. This is the moment we were born to do.
And I feel so incredible to be sharing my faith you.
The team sheet says that if you ask in faith, if you ask the Soccer Gods themselves you’ll know.
But you must ask them without any doubt, and let your spirit grow.

I believe that we will get past Columbus.
I believe that we will get past Toronto or New Jersey as well.
And I believe that we’ll lift the MLS Cup in the Bronx!

If you believe, the final score will reveal it.
And you’ll know it’s all true, you’ll just feel it.
You’ll support City,
And, by gosh, an NYC fan just believes

Oh, I believe!

This is the only thing we can do as a supporter!

Looking like a small chance of rain throughout the day. Going to be perfect playing conditions in the lower-mid-60s. Any ideas on if Billy's will be playing the TFC-NJ game instead of NFL before the game?

Last weekend, 2nd seed went into Columbus and was upset by the Buckeyes.

This weekend, Buckeyes go on the road and lay an egg and lose horribly.

So, hopefully the Crew will continue to follow the Buckeyes script.

My sanity can't take a weekend of both my teams have their seasons ended.

My modest, “I can take some solace in that” minimum result today is a game win. I know why it’s meaningless, including that if the Crew are behind on the day’s score but in no danger in the aggregate they will play accordingly, but not to even win today is worse.

What’s your other team that had its season ended this weekend.

My heart has been pumped up since this morning. But more of nervousness rather than excitement. We can't do anything other than cheering them up at the stadium at this point. is everyone with me or I am just the crazy one who's believing in them...

Doesn't matter what the result is I'm staying until they throw me out. I support the team regardless.

And I'm coming back next year too.
Same. I took it to a sad extreme after the RBW when I got so lost in my misery sitting in my seat that I didn't realize the entire stadium was empty until Securitas was telling me to GTFO.

But hey if they can beat us 7-0 then we should be able to muster a measly 3 or 4 goal surplus against Columbus! Not sure I'd advise our social media team to reference that particular example however.

Looked off his game at practice on Friday, Vieira would be nuts to start him.
You were there? Me too.

Other things I noticed:
  • That was the laxest session ever.
  • Vieira spent a lot of time drilling specific attacking combinations (with no defenders). They seemed really scripted (e.g. "now the full back plays a 1-2 with David and Maxi runs into the box!") and the players seemed a little uninspired by it. I get the idea of building habit through repetition, but I mostly responded to the vibe from the players and it wasn't super encouraging.
  • I could imagine how Lewis would be frustrating after watching him in training. He was technically and positionally really sloppy but spent a lot of time joking around and laughing.

That's less than inspiring. I wonder if Vieira treated it less than seriously because it was open.

Yeah that's my hope. I also heard they do a 2-a-day schedule and I'm hoping that the morning session was just for the publicity and that the second session was more rigorous.

Forgot to mention that I asked Lewis if he thought he'd play on Sunday and he sorta smirked / shrugged in a "I dunno, crazier things have happened" kind of way.

Pirlo was wearing some tape on his left knee which supports the theory that his play has been hampered this season by a spooky injury. However I am a Pirlo fan, I am also ancient and have been carrying a similar injury, so my take on this is biased to say the least ;)

We head to Yankee Stadium on this cool, gloomy day.
The sun isn't shining and the rain may come in sway.

We laid in egg on Halloween in Columbus,
Where Alex Callens really fucked us.

But we forget all of that as today is leg two.
We're back in the Bronx, home of the electric boogaloo.

The fans are ready, the players are rested.
The Chicken Buckets will be flowing and surely festive.

So Come on New York, let's give it a go,
And maybe just maybe, we'll get the goals in flow.

It's now or never, to keep our season alive.
For us to advance in the playoffs, it's time to shine.

So come on Vieira, Villa & Co, let's believe we can do it.
Because that's all we should know.

So here's to NYC goals in plenty and a clean sheet as well
May NYCFC remember, remember the fifth of November.
