And now they're currently occupying the last playoff spot in the East.We are getting Montreal just as they’re in the midst of a hot streak and playing really well - this after they had a woeful start to the season. They’ve won 4 straight and 5 of 6, and that’s after a streak of losing 8 of 9. However, 4 of their 5 recent wins were at home, with the 5th being against at a reeling Orlando team.
We should drop Medina he played very poor yesterday. It’s time to start realizing Lewis potential as a starter on this team and a future USMNT player.Well, we know Berget's out, Villa is looking unlikely still right?
I think the way Lewis was playing, Dome might push Maxi back down and put Medina up as a CF, and slot in JLew where Medina was playing yesterday. I think honestly Montreal is a much greater task than Columbus at the moment.
I’m not arguing against starting Lewis - I’ve been a fan of his since we drafted him - but I think Medina did a lot of good things yesterday (and I typically lead the Medina-is-a-wasted-DP chorus). He finally played a match where he wasn’t soft being tackled or going into tackles, and he contested (and won many) every header in his area with nice flicks to the advanced players. Could he have done better with some of his take ins, yes. Should he have scored that back-heel flick Lewis gave him to be 1v1 with Robles - yeah probably, but he was likely as surprised to get the perfect service as everybody in the stadium watching and had a split second to react (hint: every player should expect impossible flicks/passes from Lewis as he seems to be good for 1-2 perfect ones every match - flicks that nobody else can make). We should drop Medina he played very poor yesterday. I said start him, lol. I think Ofori should be replaced by maxi in the middle, then put jlew/medina up front. We should drop Medina he played very poor yesterday. It’s time to start realizing Lewis potential as a starter on this team and a future USMNT player.
I think Lewis is legitimately our version of Sterling. A true winger that can be an effective Striker (not CF) who has blazing speed and technical ability. Let him play up top with freedom to be inside/outside as the play dictates. He’s the perfect recipient of through balls that spin the CB’s on their heels.I said start him, lol. While I agree, but I do not know if he is right now capable of being a Striker. I think give it a few years, let him grow a bit more, and then maybe it'll fit him. The goal he scored almost went over the bar, in all honestly. Yes, it was a great goal, but I seem to think it was a bit lucky on his part. I'm not saying he doesn't have the potential- I'm saying start him off as a starting winger, and then as he gets more into the role, have him shoot more. Jack Harrison was great at shooting too, but he didn't do much on that front for a while, as well. I just don't think we should be relying on JLew as a goalscorer yet.Lewis is good at shooting. that. He won’t get better not starting games so it’s time to unleash him. Brings speed, something we don’t have to the table.
Wait, what???? By that logic, any goal scored that isn’t in the center of the net could be considered to almost have gone over/wide of the bar/post. But it didn’t miss high, it went in, which is all that has to take place, so claiming something was almost a miss, when it wasn’t, is kinda disingenuous. The goal he scored almost went over the bar, in all honestly. I can agree with that. But we need to get him games to develop sitting on the bench hand even only p[laying 15 minutes won't help any of the young guys. The goal he scored almost went over the bar, in all honestly. I went back and watched it just now, my memory serves me differently than what I just saw now. It was a great goal. However, I still see him more as a provider like Shelton was than a Striker. Tinnerholm scored two master shots, does that make him a striker? No. And Lewis to me seems like a provider, not a scorer. Develope him on the wings and we got ourselves a secret weapon.Wait, what????
