We are getting Montreal just as they’re in the midst of a hot streak and playing really well - this after they had a woeful start to the season. They’ve won 4 straight and 5 of 6, and that’s after a streak of losing 8 of 9. However, 4 of their 5 recent wins were at home, with the 5th being against at a reeling Orlando team.

They've been beating up on the minnows, and almost all of it has been at home.

Their five wins over this span:

vs HOU - 7th in West
vs ORL - 9th in East
at ORL - 9th in East
vs SKC - 3rd in West
vs COL - 11th in West

Let's see what they do on the road against a good team before we start anointing them. They've played one good team over this stretch.

This is true, but it raises their confidence, and they don't have the same three-game stretch we do so they're going to be playing full-force while we probably will not be.

I went back and watched it just now, my memory serves me differently than what I just saw now. :p It was a great goal. However, I still see him more as a provider like Shelton was than a Striker. Tinnerholm scored two master shots, does that make him a striker? No. And Lewis to me seems like a provider, not a scorer. Develope him on the wings and we got ourselves a secret weapon.
Well he needs to play to become anything is my point

Montreal is not the tire fire that they were earlier in the season, specifically MTL has shored up its defense and isn’t letting in as many goals.

That plus the need for mid-week rotation, after a major derby win for NYCFC, makes this a huge trap game. NYCFC is also facing injury issues (with probably Villa and JIB out and maybe ITS as he was subbed with a knee issue).

So your front three is pretty thin with Isi, Villa and JIB out. If you put Maxi as CF again, maybe Wallace/Maxi/Jonah.

Wednesday...

Yes. And the Mata transformation to wing will continue. It will also be interesting to see how Medina looks in two more games under Dome.
Mata has at most 30min in him, and on short turnaround, probably no more than 20 since he looked gassed at 30 on Sunday night.

If SAS doesn’t start at RB, I’d consider him as an offensive sub since he is a great dribbler/crosser and has the height to crash the goal mouth.

No way Mata has 90min in him to start - that’s asking for another injury either that night or within days.

I think SAS has to get in there as a starter in one of those lineups.

Maybe move him into the midfield? But I agree we have to fit him in somewhere, he's shown too well to waste on the bench when we're shorthanded.

I didn't list subs and yes, Mata would be one to be subbed.

Sands and Scally play today and likely would be back in New York on Wednesday to possibly make the 18 if needed on Saturday.

SAS deserves minutes.

McNamara starting in the midfield on Wednesday?

Also, Dome won't play 433 if we don't have the healthy players to fit the formation. We played 442 in the 2nd half vs NJ.

New York City v Montreal Impact
Yankee Stadium (7PM ET)
REF: Alan Kelly
AR1: Brian Dunn
AR2: Logan Brown
4TH: JC Rivero
VAR: Robert Sibiga

I consider Kelly to be the best referee in MLS. He was last seen in the first half of the first leg of the Eastern Conference semi-finals until he became sick.
