New York City FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Yankee Stadium
Saturday, August 4th 8 PM ET
YES, WNYE 91.5 FM, WADO 1280 AM

We get to start another winning streak next Saturday as we play host to Vancouver.
Will we see a changed side from the last couple of games? Hopefully Isi can slip back into a starting role and I’d think that Lewis has earned a start. If not for his own contributions at least for the lack there of from others.

We will get to marvel at the guy who just broke the MLS transfer record. It’s good that Ring will be back on Saturday, because we will need him to help shut down Davies, Kamara and what can be a lethal Vancouver counter. Davies typically attacks down the left side, which is Tinnerholm's responsibility.

We are the better team, no doubt about it. The smart strategy for Vancouver will be to bunker and spring their speedy guys. That can ruin our day, as we have seen.

We have to play this one with great patience and poise. Against Vancouver we would have possession even 9 v 11, but if we throw too many guys forward and lose just one ball they will kill us on the counter. And the truth is you don't need a lot of guys to break down their defense.

Also nice that the game is at 8PM, so we presumably won't be seeing players melt into the grass or see sluggish footie. Want to see a response to the last two shit games, get our foot back on the gas pedal.
Hopefully we get a Villa appearance, even if it is just a sub.

ok someone has to clear up something for me. If villa is good to go i read he cant play this game because he "missed" the All star game (even while injured) what kind of bullshit is that? zlatan got suspended one game for not playing the all star game

what kind of shit is that? this is why i despise this shit more and more every year

Villa wasn't going to play this weekend in any event, so this is completely inconsequential. And even if he were, I am fine with an additional recovery cushion.

i actually thought he was since we would be home and get back in form before going to toronto, it made sense i think saving him from this mini road trip in 4 days they just did

It’s really hard to tell his status right now though. He was supposedly close before the Orlando game, and had been practicing in full, but had pain on Wednesday, and therefore didn’t travel with the team. So, no idea if the pain was a minor setback, and they didn’t want him traveling and playing on turf, or it has actually setback his recovery

Vancouver will now be his 7th game missed after subbing out of the Toronto match in the 28th minute. That’s a 6 week layoff. For the season, Vancouver will be his 10th overall match missed, along with 3 matches as a sub (110min in those matches). He’s only gone a full game (85+ min) 8 times this season.

i want to believe they said something so then you keep orlando on their toes to see if they will face him and more importantly give him more rest and not risk him on that turf.

i felt like 15 or so minutes on saturday would of happened

I hope that you are right, but my Spidey sense (sorry Maxi) suspects that the original injury was worse than reported. The fact that it has either lingered this long and/or was susceptible to the recent alleged aggravation suggest(s) a significant problem rather than a minor knock. I love the guy, but I am concerned that he may be hobbled for much of the season (whether it's the current ailment or others).

perhaps, and it may make sense why they got that attacking mid kid from torque, to make up some offense lost with villa. the midfield though is bad...all we got is ring, unless ofori injury was not too bad

I agree with you, but it’s also so weird because during the Toronto game, he keeps playing and running on it for a bit after you can tell he is having an issue. But, maybe that was part of the problem

In Eloi we trust. Or, in Dome we trust that we can have trust in Eloi.
