Houston - Postmatch

That could be. I remain unconvinced that a referee can review for a red and decide to award only a yellow (and yes, I know that's what the MLS language suggests).

Let me look around.
This goal.com article says it explicitly, but IDK if it's authoritative:
"While yellow card decisions cannot prompt the use of VAR, the referee can use the system to hand out cautions once a review is underway for another reason. If a penalty was incorrectly awarded because a player dived, for example, the call can be reversed and the attacker booked. The referee also could review a potential missed red card but decide to only give a yellow."

Just edited my original response. This is correct. I checked the IFAB Handbook.

Let’s also post this here...the slow motion shows the studs raking his ankle and stomping his foot...Wiebe and Warshaw somehow say “not excessive force” and “clear yellow card”. Yeah, enough force to probably put Herrera out for months. Dolts. Like they can judge force by watching a monitor.
This play was nearly identical to the play which Saphir Taider received a straight red earlier in the year.

Good to see the broadcast didn't even mention it. I swear a public access channel would do a better job than Unimas.

Unimas is spending too much effort trying to have English-speaking announcers sound EXCITED to the levels of Spanish-language announcers. Makes your ears hurt.

It's so, so bad. They miss things because of all the shtick they're doing. Just terrible.
