"but that is how i answered"

great line, loved it.

so telling him he didnt answer the question i asked is aggressive now? and you think its hilarious that he answered back as a condescending tough guy. got it

600k Euros last year

thats only for one year. and not that it really matters but as i stated prior, Salaries in Europe do not dictate the salary they make in the US. not even by a little. Look at a player like Giovinco who came here straight up for the money.

I'd just like to take this moment to remind everyone that Italian clubs and players report player income on an after tax basis. Whereas here in the states we report it before taxes.

We are paying Maxi more then he was earning in Atalanta, but not as much more as you might infer by a straight reading of the numbers. If Maxi takes his pay as straight income he got about a 400k take home raise. But with Italian tax law and tax rates being what they are the total money expended by the club as a corporate entity is probably a lot closer then you might think.

You didn't do anything negative I'm just preparing you for anything negative you may receive . ........Pirlo is love Pirlo is life ???!!!o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: Have you been sent here as rouse to mess with me or do you Really feel this way ?? You continue to scare the F out of me ! I'm the Only one on this forum that follows your Mantra ! That is if it's really yours ? Where the Hell have you been for 2 years when I'v needed it ? You have me very perplexed sweetie !! VERY !!

lol im not messing with you. I love Pirlo, ive followed his entire career. Ive been lurking this forum for a little over a year but just recently started commented as a friend suggested i get involved, im not as new as most people think i am but ill continue to talk people calling me "newbie" it really doesnt bother me.

Sure but John Rojas also reported on Soccer in the City that he was making less than a million for Leon. Some guy that is not making rosters, did not produce and was often injured for a Liga MX club is going to magically start making millions in MLS?

There is logic to the idea that Maxi had a bunch of money paid up front because of the transfer fee we paid so we could buy him down next year. I don't really care if Maxi is or is not worth his salary as much as I would like a DP slot open in the future so we could bring in 2 more DPs.

If I am condescending tough guy for wanting evidence for statements you make, so be it. You still haven't delivered on any evidence that Maxi has made millions in Serie A or Liga MX. If you want more feedback on your anecdotal Giovinco fallacy or burden of proof fallacy, I am more than happy to educate.

The idea is that maxi is a better caliber of player than non DP players in the league and therefore warrants more money for our league.

you were condescending before we even started debating maxis salary, but ill leave it at that.

how is my giovinco comment a fallacy? I followed Giovincos entire career in serie A and i was actually a big fan of his. The fact was he wanted more money than teams were willing to give him so he came to the US where he was able to get that money. Why? Because we will pay more money to get a DP caliber player. Again why i said comparing salarys to what they were getting in europe isnt fair.

Thanks for the info. I had been puzzling over that one for a while, because the salaries looked much smaller than I expected.

Just because Maxi is small and played in Serie A doesn't mean that you can correlate Maxi's salary and situation with Giovinco's salary and situation. The days of MLS teams overpaying for DPs that aren't brand names is coming to an end.

again this is why i asked you thought he was overpaid and you refused to answer. Maxi currently only makes 2 million dollars for us. In my opinion for what he brings to the team hes not overpaid, if anything i think hes a bit underpaid.

well I said slightly aggressive. So yeah 100% what I said. Maybe the adverb slightly means less to you then it means to me, so much so that you ignored it in your reply. I'd leave it as a miscommunication between us.

As an outside observer this is my opinion of your interchanges.

"Still hoping that they knew they had to pay a big fee for him so they gave him a lot of money this year, and it will be less next year."
In this sentence, Derek makes a comment which I don't fully understand the context. In the moment, I didn't actually care what it was in reference to and I moved passed it quickly. I likely would have never thought on it again. (as an aside, I still don't understand it, and yet I still don't want to investigate)

"do you think hes worth less?"
In this sentence, you query derek asking for a quantifiable measurement to his amorphous claim. My interest is piqued as i'd like to see how he gives an answer to whether maxi is worth less then a number not defined. A "big fee" and "a lot of money" are not numbers. So I ponder what would his response.

"He wasn't making over a million in Italy or Mexico."
Ok, He responds with a (relative) number. Effectively making his analysis tangible. I am no longer interested in this thought exercise. I don't want to debate if he is worth a million in salary or not, effectively ending my participation with your dialogue.

"that wasnt what i asked though."
Indeed! you didn't and my interest is piqued once more as you pester him for a response to a vague question.

"but that is how i answered"
Yaaas! A slightly condescending response that I found humorous. I may be giving to much credit to its author, but its as if he noticed your original question was delving into metaphysical concepts which this thread had not intended; so in a valiant attempt to rip it from the ether, he gave a corporeal response of which you found objection. Thus he produced this beauty in attempt to extricated himself.

It all happened so fast, I could only chuckle. And hit the like button. And then quote it and point directly to how humorous I found it in a subsequent post. And then I suppose break it down in a step by step analysis. But that last bit was at your behest. Don't expect me to do it for all my post. Like my majestic avatar I like to drop my posts, kick some leaves on it and continue my free spirited run.

well i was definitely not expecting all this... im glad to have some insight into how your brain works. IDK why but i loved this

Worth keeping in mind that the numbers reported by the player's union are what the player earns. This can be, and often is, different than the player's salary budget charge, which is what he costs against the salary cap. Transfer fees are one example of what can make things different.

Im not positive on this number but im pretty sure the max cap hit of a DP is 415,000

EDIT: Im wrong the cap hit is 480,625

I give up. He can be good and not worth over 2 million at the same time.
