Since we had this new revelation that dkalevdkalev KennyKenny and Fake JewFake Jew all follow, I figured it needed it's own thread. We can talk about the national team or Israeli Premeir League.

BTW, how BS is it that Israel needs to qualify through Europe? This is their 4 confederation they've been thrown into in 60 years, because of "fair play". Then again, losing at home to macediona doesn't strengthen my argument...

I honestly find this the most New York thing ever to have this thread. All that we need is some bagel discussions.

I mean we fucking suck. Zahavi is the only worthwhile player we have, and as an AMF we have him playing CF

Zahavi would be a great DP. I really want him in the league although I doubt it's with us because of the UAE connection.

Do you think it would be smart for them to qualify through Asia where they would have to play in Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, etc, etc, etc?

Idk about "smart", but fair. It's where their nation is geographically. Or at least qualify through Africa, since it borders with Egypt. If FIFA is really politics free, as it proports, then political differences shouldn't matter. And if all those nations refuse to play Israel, let them show the world how racist they are. And then maybe sanction nations like Qatar by stripping them of their WC for refusing.

And FYI, in other Olympic sports Israel competes on those nations' soils all the time. Sometimes the Arab nations refuse to compete, sometimes the will play - and lose ;)

Well before being forced out of the AFC Israel was one of the most dominant teams. Obviously a lot has changed. Israel is now in one of it's worst periods for the national team and kids are looking past their local clubs and supporting mostly Real Madrid and Liverpool. I do think they'll have a way better time in the AFC though and would actually get to play meaningful matches which would help make local soccer relevant again.

TBF its not just a one sided conflict. Israel has detained & actively blocked the movement of Palestinian players, has multiple clubs in the West Bank, has bombed stadiums in Gaza, and has a blatantly racist team in Beitar Jerusalem.

Both sides are going to have to make changes to the way that they behave towards each other. Not very optimistic either side is willing to do that.

I would also argue that access to UEFA club tournaments benefits Israeli soccer a lot more than Asia qualifying. IDK if Israel would even be a top 10-15 team in Asia.

During and after the bidding process, the Qatari government stated that it would let the Israel national football team participate in the World Cup on their territory despite not recognizing the State of Israel,[28][29][38] the head of Qatar’s World Cup bid said. Israeli athletes had competed previously in Qatar, such as Israeli tennis player Shahar Pe'er in 2008.[39] In addition, an Israeli also participated in the Doha 2010 Indoor Championships.[40]

Yes, but now you're bringing in political pionts post-1967. Israel has never played in Asia since its founding 1948. Having to play as far away as oceana or South America. If we're being fair, let's start with the original cause and affect, and it's not the "occupation".

PS. It's really hard not to make political points, while highlighting FIFA's hypocracy on this issue. Apologies to the whole forum, trying to keep this convo very narrowly defined to FIFA not allowing Israel to play in its proper confederation.

That's actually not true. Israel was in the Asian confederation from 1954 until it was kicked out in 1974. Post 1967 is why Israel is not playing in Asia today.

You blame 1967, but actually the year 1974 is very significant. It was after the Yom Kippur War of 1973 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur_War). A surprise attack launched by Syria and Egypt on the holiest day of the year when all Jews are fasting. Isreal was able to fend them off and that's when Arab nations started to focus on PR campaigns and UN (and FIFA) resolutions as a way to destroy Israel.

Also very interesting to note: the Israeli Football was called the Palestinian football association from 1929-1948, even though it was made up of Jewish, Arab and British (stationed soldiers) players. "Football has a long tradition in Israel. The game was originally introduced during the time of the Ottoman Empire. The Palestinian Football Association was formed in August 1928, and joined FIFA in June 1929, but at the time the association was made up of Arab clubs, Jewish clubs, and clubs representing British policemen and soldiers serving in the region during the British Mandate rule that spanned the period between World War One and the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. The British Mandate of Palestine national team made its debut against Egyptin 1934 FIFA World Cup qualification, losing 1–7 in Cairo. The team played five international matches, including a friendly match against Lebanon, until the British Mandate for Palestine was dissolved.". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_national_football_team

I won't take the last part any further, because it could go way off scope. But I will end by saying that all Israeli citizen arabs (Christian, Druze, and Muslim), as well as LBGT all have the same rights in Israel as any other citizen. This includes playing for the Israeli national team. Case in point Bibras Natcho (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibras_Natkho). Unfortunately, the same freedoms cannot be found in any neighboring Arab nation.

Can we seriously bring up Israel without having to bring up the controversial things the government has done. The only victims in this conflict are the Palestinian and Israel civilians murdered by their enemies. I really hate that I'm forced to support bad over worse. The Israeli right needs a reformation and almost anyone in Israel will agree but the fucking Haredis will never allow it. I'm going to bed.

Almost anyone in Israel? Have you lived there mate? Because I've attended one too many funerals of neighbors and neighbors children and I'll be damned if I hear someone blame our people for it. It's like blaming the US government for 9/11, which if you do is fine, but if not it's hypocritical. Here I was thinking this would be a chat about Israeli soccer be it their league their players or their national team, not a palestinian cuck fest
