Jack Harrison to Manchester City - Official

Moving from a top MLS team to a Championship team is probably a lateral move in terms of quality. I think your average Championship level player makes a little more, however.

Of course, all of that is really separate from what is really motivating Harrison in this case. Remember, he wasn't signed by Middlesborough. He was signed by Man City.

He wants to play Premier League football. Period. Signing with the top EPL team and proving himself in the Championship is the best way to get there. Yes, MLS players have made the jump directly and will continue to do so, but even a guy like Yedlin basically trod the same path.

Just a reminder that Jack is only on loan with Middlesborough at the moment through 5/31/18.

Is that true?
I'm going to say "provisionally" as that's based on the 4.5 million I've seen mentioned in a place or two. We'll get exact numbers at some point but even if that's wrong a low Man City salary is an order of magnitude (or two) beyond an NYCFC salary.

Tangelo Herrera is on a low Man City salary also and it’s nowhere near that, I believe.

Jack fails to get off the bench again today while Boro spanks my Hull City. Hardly piling up the minutes thus far.
He won’t ever in all likelihood because he’s not good enough in the right ways to stand out there.

Never good enough to play in a good enough team to be able to play. Wrong style to play in hard, rough and tumble team like pretty much all championship teams.

That’s why I asked. I can’t imagine he’s making more than 1-2 million, likely closer to 1. Easily could have gotten that here (yeah, I know it’s not the point if he didn’t want to stay here).

Add to your points that players on teams typically resent loaners that come in because they’re taking minutes away from their mates, thus getting assimilated can sometimes take a lot longer, or not at all. It’d be easy to think that the Boro guys resent that MCFC sent an MLS’er to them as a Spring-half spark plug to get them over the promotion playoff hump, that they haven’t been able to do on their own.

Oh come on....

Who couldn’t love our Jacky???

I think its a little early to panic. He went in preseason form to a team in mid-season.
My point in a previous post still stands, I’d be surprised if Harrison’s arrival didn’t galvanize the current players to push harder in training and matches in an effort to keep the ManCity carpetbagger out of the lineup. Boro is definitely over performing compared to the first half of the year.

That's a little dramatic, but yes competition does make people work hard to keep a spot. If Boro wins promotion, I don't think anyone gives a hoot where someone comes from.

Which part was over-dramatic? You think the Boro players welcomed Harrison with open arms ? I’m sure they publicly did, but loaned players in Europe are typically pariahs

That's a hasty generalization.
