Jon Patricof Named New President Of New York City FC

mgarbowski mgarbowski You didnt ask about our concerns with our top academy talent potentially leaving???!!!!!!! MADNESS I say!!!
But seriously thank you for sharing with us. Any news is better than no news at all.
Ha! Critics!
I actually did mention that but not much came out of it in response. But they know it's an issue. No surprise that they pay at least as much attention as we do.

One person exclusively working on the stadium. Hopefully that individual is indexing the Stadium Thread.

I can't imagine doing that job. Your entire role is regarding the stadium. The only thing you do is about a stadium.
If that guy is spending his days indexing the stadium thread then I'm depressed.

They were slightly surprised but not shocked at my simple declarative statement "everyone hates the food." I think they know but not the extent.

I haven't heard this. What's so bad about it? I don't eat in there that much. I generally eat a hot dog or two at The Dugout so if the food is worse than that then I will say a prayer for you all.

I'm not really the most informed or opinionated on this, but the consensus is YS is overall a real miss on food. Other venues have broadened the menu with more of the fast fresh and quirky options, and the YS beer selection is weak. Prices are also high even by NY sports venue standards. Or so I understand. I don't get out much to those other places. But that's the consensus, and I was happy to pass it on.

He's the one who keeps posting just before the two weeks of silence, in order to ensure that no news needs to be announced.

But yeah, really cool update. I'd forgotten that you had that original chat with Patricof, but the stories like this that slip every few months are always a real boon for the times when you need a bit of reassurance that things are happening. I'm curious if you discussed the training facility at all though. Any talk of whether it's a permanent senior team facility, can be expanded, will be used for academy training etc? Or any mention of an NYCFC 2?

They showed me the scale model sitting in the reception area. Patricof did say it was expandable. Didn't really cover the rest.

Maybe that's why nothing has been announced recently.....that person has job security while we still don't have a stadium.

What are they going to do once we do have a stadium???

Start preparing to build a new one. They might just about be able to source some new land for it by the time the first one they built has been rendered completely functionally obsolete and outdated.

Solid point. Just like Battery Park City is built on dirt excavated from the original WTC's. We build a stadium, but excavate enough to build new land to eventually build a newer bigger stadium.

Maybe by this time Andrea's twin boy's will be playing o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

I'm glad you had the opportunity to sit down with him mgarbowski mgarbowski there aren't too many of us who would be able to take in the experience and also come out of it with anything of substance. Definitely the right mind for the occasion. Also great of Jon to do this in the first place, they could of easily given you another suite experience and the 5 minute discussion as you expected. Doing the 1 hour sit down is above and beyond.

That post is almost a year and a half old. Just an FYI.

Hope your schedule works out. It's a nice suite of offices. For those never there they have the whole floor. I didn't go down the one hallway that had some private offices but did see the rest. The meet was in a large conference room with great views. Most of the staff works in a single large bullpen room clustered by department. The photos pretty much show the entire reception area.
