Khiry Shelton [Forward]

He was spending so much time caring about his hair that couldn't have otherwise spent on his touches.
Perhaps that could explain Mix, too. Not sure what to think about McNamara though.

Per Snapchats from Khiry and Mikey, it looks like Khiry finally got a haircut and got that raccoon off his head. Now he can be the 2nd SuperDraft pick he's supposed to be.

Too bad he waited until this late in the season!

Khiry Shelton is putting on some amazing stats this season. This is a good article. Right now he is third all-time in assists per 90 with a minimum of 1000 minutes. He is #1 since the rules changed in 2002 eliminating Hockey assists.

Pretty impressive, but it's a pretty small sample size of play and he is on a team that scores goals like cray.

Pardon my asking, but what on earth is a "hockey assist"?

A secondary assist. It's given to the player who passed the puck to the player who made the assist to the goal scorer.

Secondary assists. So the pass before the pass that led to the goal.

Hockey usually gives two assists on goals, even if the secondary assist didn't play a large part in the lead up to the goal

Ah, got you. Yeah, I'd never even heard of doing that before. If you're going to count them you might as well give a credit to every player who touched the ball between your team taking possession and scoring.

Not just that, but hockey assists also count a shot that is saved and scored off the rebound I believe.

MLS awards secondary assists if they were key in setting up the scoring opportunity. So, it's not given every time for the next to last pass, or even the last pass, but it is sometimes given.

Ahead of that campaign [2003], MLS went away from its original objective definition of an assist – the two passes prior to a goal regardless of context, akin to the NHL rule – and transitioned to the subjective one you see below.

"Assists shall be credited to the player(s) whose pass(es) contribute significantly and directly to the scoring of a goal or the creation or development of the scoring sequence. An assist shall only be awarded when it is determined that the pass in question required a reasonable amount of skill, vision and accuracy. A maximum of two assists shall be awarded on any goal."

This was posted on April 17th. He was set to miss 4-6 weeks. It's been 11 weeks now. Maybe I haven't even noticed him in training videos or photos, is he healthy? Is he training? Is he just not getting into the 18 anymore?

Hamstring injuries have the potential to end careers. I doubt they lied about the timetable - he may just not be able to shake the pain and get full strength back. He also will have a huge chance of getting a follow-up injury with mismatched hamstring strength because the imbalance will change his gait and that has a trickle down effect.

It also seemed like he reinjured it or something happened to set back his timetable, because I seem to remember he was training with the team on week, and they seemed to indicate he was progressing then the next he was out again.

Vieira selected Lewis and Awuah. We haven't seen a lot of their minutes. Khiry has some good moments for NYCFC, but it seems that the majority of his minutes aren't great. Our 2015 roster was built by Kreis. Khiry was the 2nd SuperDraft pick in 2015.

I'm watching the Seattle-San Jose match and Christian Roldan scored two goals in two minutes. He already has been capped by the US. He was the 16th overall pick. Axel Sjöberg was the 14th. Tim Parker was the 13th. Saad Abdul-Salaam was the 12th. Matt Polster was the 7th.

College drafts are usually a crapshoot. By damn, over three years we really messed up that pick.

i still think he is going to be one of those "late bloomers" that start doing well at like 26-29. and it will not be with us, since by then we would of traded or waived him.

he needs playing time.....and not be injured
