Man City Discussion

Watching the Community Shield, don't like either clubs new uniforms really...
City getting humiliated....

Hey Gok Wan

Who gives a fuck about the "Uniform" (Kit)

Just got back from the game.... either City were not bothered about it, or we are relegation fodder.

Now (pissed as I am) I think the makeshift team we put out would not win the Championship let alone the Premier League.

but I wouldn't come on a CFG forum shouting the kit is shit and by the way they aint playing well.

We were not at our best.
The Arsenal Keeper (whose name I cannot say let alone spell in my current condition) made 1 fantastic save .. world class +... and dominated his area well... Love it keeper playing well.... he needs credit !!!

Not saying he won them the game, our (edit I mean Their) defence and tactics did.... they started 3-5 -2 and bossed midfield.... they got 1 -0 up, and switched 4 1 4 1 giving us 2 banks of 4 to get through...

Our second(ish) string couldnt get through, and in the end we lost all shape....

Well done Arsenal (though the league game is what matters (Sept)...

Well played .... City were second best today, but it had nothing to do with there Uniform

Honestly I think that was somewhere between B to B plus lineup from Arsenal and around C from City. Nothing to be overly concerned about IMO. Just signed Mangala finally today to so add him to the mix of all the important players missing that should be there for a more important match. I think we learned nothing of how good either City or Arsenal will be from this match based on the lineups put out there.

I'm not crazy about the monochrome Kit but we knew it was coming. Of course it had no bearing on the outcome of the match but it was observation made during his initial post while the match was going on. In no way shape or form did anyone suggest City lost because of the kit. It's not the most important thing in the world but people talk about new kits all the time. I'm sure there's a thread on blue moon just devoted to it. I know people on there still bitch about the badge that's been in place for almost 20 years now. So to act like it's crazy that someone would express an opinion on an internet forum as per the club's new kit seems more odd to me than the fact that someone did so in the first place.

Oops

I think I need to publicly apologize to NYCFCFan10 NYCFCFan10 and remember not to post messages in the condition I was in last night !!!

I could nitpick a few things. Newcastle had a few really good spells but overall satisfied with a 2-0 away win to start the season.

A decent start to a season, bearing in mind half of the players are still rusty and another quarter of the team is still not at match fitness.

Now you should all know that Chelsea being 3-1 up to relegation fodder on the final day of the opening games of the season, clearly makes them favourites ...

Chelsea looked "special" in the first half.... If they carry on like that we will have a test.

That said, I think we can do it.

Judging by Burnley's complete disinterest in defending Chelsea, I don't know how much we actually learned yesterday. Chelsea are good and will compete for the title, but we knew that on Friday. the Matchups coming (MCFC v. Liverpool, Arsenal v. MCFC, MCFC v. Chelsea) will tell us a lot more.

Good result tonight. I'm not sure City hit their stride but still beat last years closest challengers 3-1. Liverpool had their moments but City when they get flowing just the speed of both the runs and the ball movement as well as the accuracy of the passing and ruthless finishing. Just gorgeous if your a City supporter or frightening if your playing them.

Not that we looked bad today but Stoke was defending for a draw from the get go and got a lucky clearance resulting in a 1-1 for the goal... Which hart made a mess of. Can't blame fernandinho it's not often your in a situation like that as a mid but he didn't make it look good either.
I know a lot of people love him and I'll probably get shit for this but I can't stand Yaya. I think he's the only one that doesn't really fit in the lineup. Everyone else makes runs and moves off the ball and he's just this big central statue that if he receives it near the 18 he's passing it back more often than not. Idk I've never really been a fan of him.
Nasri and Silva were the only bright spots for us today going forward. Aguero looked alright but our forwards were very limited by lack of space.

Good synopsis Dan. Just one point I disagree with.... Hart !!
Hart came out, made himself big, and filled the goal. The one place the forward could put the ball to score was through his legs.
Unfortunately, the forward managed to put it there. I have conceded a few goals like that in my time, the trouble is, once you go out and set to close your legs quickly is not as easy as you think.
Because they go through your legs they often look like bad keeping to the uninitiated, and most commentators do not really understand goalkeeping. For example often spectacular saves are actually run of the mill saves, where as angling your hand to turn a drilled ball to safety can be a lot more difficult but because you stay on your feet it doesn't look as good. Yet I have seen commentators rave about simple diving saves, but never seen one praise the speed of thought and timing when a keeper stays on his feet but turns a drilled ball (from an angle) around the post by angling his hand and setting his wrist.
Rant over from a fully paid up member of the goalkeepers union ;)

Yeah it makes sense. I've had a few go through the legs and it is difficult to readjust your entire body weight to move your legs together once your positioned. easier to kick out than bring them in

Blue moon,
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own.
Blue moon
You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for.
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold.
Blue moon
Now I’m no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own.

Amped for tomorrow. Awful what happened w/ Aguero on Saturday. Had to expect him to go down at some point, but sucks that it's now.

We can go through with a draw as well but I want to see the team make it through by winning. I'm looking forward to the match but am very nervous.
