Man City Discussion

It's an interesting move there's little doubting he's a very good player but is he really in an area of need for City? I think he sort of plays the same role as his namesake. Maybe he's seen as David's long term replacement but I don't think the elder Silva is going anywhere just yet.
In the short term, I think this is a Navas / Sterling replacement. Sterling has done better this season, but I don't think Guardiola wants to wait and see if he makes the leap to world class. With regard to decision making and final ball / shot quality, Bernardo is just a different level. With Walker, as rumoured on the overlap? Oooohhhhweeeee. They just got more than twice as compelling in attack – de Bruyne + Bernardo + Walker as a forward triangle is 2 players better than de Bruyne + Sterling + makeshiftRB and at least 1 player better than Sane + David Silva + Clichy on the other side.

In the long term I think it's a David Silva replacement. Which makes me hope that Silva comes over to NYCFC but that is a total moonshot.

David Silva is 31, and at the level of international competitive club soccer that ManCity plays at sometimes you have to buy early in order to have a chance at buying at all.

When BSilva is 27-30, in his prime, no club in the world is going to sell him. Unless he regresses or stops developing.

Also, Man City is pretty freaking old at this point. They really do need to get younger.

Toure - 34
Bravo - 34
DSilva - 31
Kompany - 31
Sagna - 34
Fernandihno - 32
Nolito - 30
Navas - 31
Kolorov - 32
Zabaleta - 31
Clichy - 31

There are a few 29 year olds as well, but I think my point is made. Though Sagna did get sold a few days ago.

Clichy, Zaba, Willy and Navas are gone too.

I heard 60. But whatevs. I like Silva. Good player. Don't think he really moves the needle for Man City, though.

Btw, when did you become a "Citeh" fan?

I'm kind of the perfect fan that CFG looks for. Didn't support any clubs in Europe. So when NYCFC came around, I picked up Man City as my European club. Let's say 2014/15 season. Cynergy.

Not sure if I should be posting this before it's 100 percent official but looks like City have their keeper. Don't know much about him. my friend was recently in Lisbon and brought me back a Benfica scarf but that's about as far as my knowledge of modern Benfica goes lol. The fee is huge though so they must really rate him.

Willy left. Hart is looking for a permanent transfer. So, Bravo is the backup? Wasn't his transfer like 25M Euros? That's an expensive backup.

I would normally agree with you, but Benfica's public ownership plus Portuguese law means they have to announce to the stock market every time a transfer is agreed, and they've already done that, so it's pretty likely it's happening.

So two right backs signed in about a week for upwards of 70 million pounds.... thoughts?

By all rights Danilo appears to have been signed as a RB/LB/DM combination. The reports I'm reading also make it sound like his signing was specifically chosen to avoid the need to sign a fourth full-back.

Glad no one posted in here today since I recorded the match. Have been off Twitter and almost my phone entirely all day. The boys look good. Hope to see some new guys in there later. But wow what a bench. That's what will give us a chance at champions league this time around. Only 25 in right now.

Was just dropping in to make a quick comment but perhaps I’ll come back later this evening.

What I noticed is that all that pace doesn't mean a thing when a team has 11 players behind the ball.

Yeah, a well fought win. Like what I saw of Bernardo. Very quick and made some great runs in behind.
Rumors still swirling about us landing Sanchez.
Would be highest paid player in team history.
