Man City Discussion

Well the loss is out of the way now. Can’t conplain about this one, we were beat. I wouldn’t say by a better team but certainly by a team that played harder than us today. I thought debruyne had a good game, but you could point at just about every other player and call them out for something.
The effort just wasn’t there. So many poor, sloppy passes, and lots of mistakes. When Liverpool let up even the slightest we put two past them really quick.
I think we all know Pep will use this to help them get better. This is the level we’ll see against us in the later champions league stages and we have to be up for it.

As I said on Twitter, I'm ready to do it two more times in the FA Cup and UCL finals.

And as I said in the buildup, this matchup could come to be seen as the absolute can't miss match in all top tier footy.

Although City lost, probably the best PL game I have seen this season. Liverpool outplayed City today but you can see how afraid Klopp was in stoppage time as City was pressing. With Aguero's diving header miss in the final minute, we could have heard "Aguerrrroooooo" again given what was on the line, but it wasn't to be.

What was very positive was how City did not let up from being down 1-4 and kept with their philosophy and were pressing to almost tie it up.

Liverpool's goals were clinical.

Hands down match of the season. City showed at the end how quickly they can punish you for switching off a millisecond.

Really smart of Pep to get Sterling out, as he was going mental. Silva changed the game for City by coming inside more.

Klopp took advantage of the extra prep time and put on a tactical masterclass with his selection of press triggers.

As I said during the match, it took absolutely world class skill just to get the ball to midfield for either team.

It was a hell of a match. I think if you’re a Liverpool fan you’re still a bit frustrated because this is what your team is capable of but it requires everything they’ve got and a perfect performance. Whereas city and pep manage to make it look so much easier and maintain it week in and week out. It’s really what separates city from the rest of the Prem right now. The ability to play at a very high level regardless of the opponent or changes to lineup.
Wouldn’t mind seeing the matchup again in those competitions Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan

Lol. I won't debate that here, despite my disgreement. Good game.

Only managed to see bits and pieces. Had to be out of the house for a majority of this listened on the radio in the car till it was 4-1. Liverpool are just sort of City's Bogey team. I disagree about wanting to see this match up again in a knock out competition. Their one of the only teams that worry me. I don't think their better than City as seen by their overall results but head to head they give City massive problems. I'm too lazy to look up the stats but I'd guess in the CFG era City's head to head with Liverpool has to be one of their worst against an individual opponent definitely feel less confident playing them than United or Chelsea despite those two sides having been generally better over the time period.

Something that I noticed but didn't hear anybody comment upon was how much the grass seemed to slow the game down. It seemed more difficult for City to play through the lines quickly, and gave players more time to close and press. Not sure if anybody else noticed.

Still thinking about that match even though it's already Monday night. Was tons of fun despite that outcome, and I think it would've killed every single Liverpool fan's hopes and dreams if we got that one last goal to tie it. Alas.

Feels like I somehow owe Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan a beer now or something, even though no wager was made.

Eh...no need. Thanks, though.

Frankly, I wouldn’t have been that upset. I mean, it would have been annoying, but City is pretty decent. I only really get annoyed when it’s points dropped in ridiculous ways. But that’s rare and getting rarer, despite the narrative.

Looking forward to getting the new signings in and hopefully mounting a charge next year. This year is all about staying in top 4 and a couple of cup runs.

City move on to the league cup finals at Wembley, beating Bristol City 3-2 on a last second De Bruyne goal in extra time.

Also, De Bruyne just signed a five-year contract extension a few days ago as well.

Shit. I turned off the game after City went up 2-0 in the leg and 4-1 on aggregate.

Well they were always going through but Bristol City made it 2-2 towards the end until City elegantly carved their way through them with De Bruyne scoring right at the end of extras. Would be worth watching the highlights at the least.

Just saw the highlights. City still undefeated in English competitions (outside of Anfield).

I was listening to the BBC radio commentary after full time. They made quite a lot of the fact that Bristol are apparently only the 6th team so far this season to put more than one goal past a City side.

Also, by my count we are now 5 goals away from the century in all competitions this season...

Liverpool’s loss to West Brom yesterday is exactly why I said they beat us on their best day with everything going perfect for them on maximum rest. Not something they can maintain day in and day out.

I know it's more ManCity related, but could we see a City vs City match?

In the announcement they state that they're playing a match in NY.

Well they could mean MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as that's the largest stadium in New York metro.

Man City vs. Liverpool was an ICC game in 2014 at Yankee Stadium.

I don't think we'll see a match between the two clubs as they are coming for ICC games. But there will be a done of cross promotional activities.
