This issue has been touched on in some other threads but I believe that in order for NYCFC to take off , the NYC community needs to be educated on MLS. This is no longer a start up league with awful uniforms and very low quality soccer. This is a league that draws 18K plus on average, that has rapid suppporters and most importantly plays quality soccer. The quality isnt EPL or Serie A but its a hell of a lot better than MLS 10 years ago. NYC doesnt know this, we need to tell them. I hope the staff at NYCFC undertands that MLS needs to be sold to the community and has some ideas. Cant just throw a few NYCFC stickers up and think that you marketed

NYCFC staff if you are listening how about this idea? Convince the powers that be to give to MLS direct acess free for one month everyone that has time warner, cablevision, verizon etc in the tri state area. They do this all the time with HBO and Showtime to entice new customers. Then during that time we do an all out blitz on twitter, facebook etc and let everyone know that they have free direct kick for them month. At that point we let the quality of MLS speak for itself. There is no question this sort of thing would generate new interest in the league and NYCFC. Thoughts?

It's a huge undertaking but I think it's something we should all be embracing.

I think it's our responsibility to promote three things, in this order:

The Community. Whether it's the Supporters themselves or the communities we live in. The Supporters Group has an obligation to support the members that keep it alive.

The League. There is no NYC FC without MLS. Rather than shit talking other teams (banter is different amd encouraged!!) and it's supporters, we need to hold each other up. Think about it, if ESC and VA hated Philly so much, would they really buy tickets to Union games and go nuts cheering for RB. Rivalries are great because we are all feeding each other, supporting our neighboring markets. Promoting the league ensures more people can support more teams.

The Team. Whether by locality or some other connection, we are here because of a mutual affection for our team. Once our other needs are met we can finally promote NYC FC.

By meeting these needs I believe we will be the best in the country.
