As someone who has watched Mehdi play for the Redbulls during his whole tenure there, and as someone who kept up to what he was doing when he went out west, I always thought Mehdi never really got a fair shake. He has always had a nice touch on the ball, and the things he needed to improve was be more physical, and just learn the game. So far this year he has been one of our better players without a doubt. The goals he has scored have been top notch with a great touch. And you know what, sometimes, it takes players a little longer to get it. We have seen it in other sports, and soccer is no different. I hope he continues to improve.

Lacks the final decision making according to Mike Petke on the Cosmos broadcast. But seriously how did he not pass that ball to Mullins on the 2 v 1.

He learned and a few days later he's the best player ever!

I'm wondering though, if that was any other player besides Villa, would Ballouchy have passed that ball?

Because hes a ball hog. This is the cockiest guy on the team by far.
In fairness, (1) he delivered a great assist to Villa at TFC, (2) he delivered an almost identical great assist to Villa vs MTL and (3) while he missed the pass to Mullins it was at least as big a deal that he had an easy goal himself but just screwed up his shot right into the keeper.

I'm no more mad at him for missing the pass than I am that he should have scored it himself. I don't see a pattern of him ball hogging this year. I think he has taken shots available to him and put a few of them in. This one example isn't a glaring example of ball hogging. It's a crap shot under pressure. He just choked. But he has still choked less often than just about anyone else on NYC this year.

He's not a great player and probably comes off the bench when our full compliment of new players arrive. But I think the Cosmos ball hog critique misses the fact that he has been a goal scorer for us, had a good easy shot at goal and took it. I'm happy for that. I just wish he hadn't fluffed it.

to be fair, i dont expect many players to pass the ball across. if i was 1v1 with the goalie, and had mullins next to me with an open goal, you're damn right im gonna take that shot 15 our of 10 times.
and ballouchy has been doing fairly well in front of goal, so i'm not against him pulling off a shot in that situation, nobody mentions the terrible effort from mullins after the save....with an open goal and all the time in the world... but thats for another time i guess...
