Mikkel "Mix" Diskerud [Midfielder]

And he got a hair cut. Really good goal, actually.

He's a good player. Still think it sucks we couldn't manage to figure shit out with him.
Excellent goal and the lay off for him was also superb. And fascinating that he was playing the late-arriving midfielder that ghosts in for the shot - just like Lampard.

Like everyone else I'd love to know what happened behind the scenes for Mix to get run out of town like that. Something tells me that Mix is too classy to ever talk about it though. Maybe when he retires he will write a tell all book about his time at NYCFC.

At least PV's not-giving-a-fuck attitude towards Mix is the same not-giving-a-fuck attitude allowing him to "respectfully" bench the Maestro. As for the latter, that's a good thing.

We'll see. Mix made the 18 once the entire time he was banished even though there were games we were short of healthy players and utilized 4gk and 3 def on the bench. If Pirlo plays while Herrera is away, then it's not the same no-fcks attitude.

Different circumstances and reasons for sure - but it's helpful that he doesn't mind being an ahole or being perceived as an ahole if he believes that there is a good reason for it. I don't think that Pirlo has been Mix banished, he is being benched solely for tactical reasons. Many an MLS coach would have difficulty doing that.

Aside from the goal and two assists, Mix also has 3.9 tackles and 2.4 interceptions per game. His match rating per whoscored.com is best on his team (sitting 11th of 16th on the tables). It seems like he's doing everything he can to earn a new permanent spot in Europe this fall, hopefully netting us some GAM too.

The Swedish League started back this weekend after it's break, and Mix scored the winning goal in their 2-0 win. For the year, he's now got 2G/2A and he's their second-highest rated plated per whoscored.

also had a game rating today of 8.05, which was tops for the match.

Let's see if an MLS team brings him in off waivers this summer. Assuming they can do so for less than the full cost of the NYC contract (with us covering the difference), I will not be surprised to see it happen.

The problem is, would he be willing to play in Columbus, Foxboro, Houston, or really anywhere else in the league? Some speculation in the past basically says he was NYC or bust when it comes to MLS. That theory gained some credibility when he did not end up somewhere else in the league. Mix is a good player, and seeing as another MLS club could have picked him up for a fraction of his bloated salary, that has to indicate that he either has character flaws that other clubs did not want to touch, or he was unwilling to play elsewhere.
