Mikkel "Mix" Diskerud [Midfielder]

Mix scored the match's first goal today in a losing effort 1-2.

Four goals on the season.

Is he good enough for Girona? His style is definitely more La Liga than MLS, but still don’t think he’d be good enough for La Liga. No chance Mix would go to Australia. No idea what this means. Interested to follow this development
Doesn’t mention CFG, it’s stated as directly with ManCity & Umbro, so Girona is less likely in play nor would Australia be in play. Obviously ManCity could alway loan him out, but it’s make more sense for it to go through CFG unless there are specific FFP gains to be had routing it through ManCity.

I do wonder if this could be a play for max GAM by transferring him to stock our war chest???

Edit- deleted part about Umbro being their shoe sponsor after realizing I read the tweet incorrectly.

We clearly bought out his contract last year but the internet seems to think this provides salary relief for NYCFC.

Well yeah -- we were still paying his contract, it just wasn't counting towards the cap. The buy-out didn't get us out from the contract, it just got us out from under it counting towards the salary cap.

The internet is full of morons.

This effects NYCFC in no material way.

MLS just doesn’t have to pay Mix anymore, Man City does.

What’s really interesting about this is that MCFC seems to value Mix enough to pay him a guaranteed salary for 4.5 years. Yes, the intent seems to be to transfer him outat a profit, but if that doesn’t happen they’re still paying him a wage (whatever amount it may be - but enough that he agreed to take it while his current club had been trying to get him on a permanent deal). Reading between the lines, there is/was definitely a disconnect between what PV thought of Mix as a player and the value that MCFC sees in Mix as a commodity.

4 Years. 2015-2018, all guaranteed, no-waive, no-trade.
So we still owe him an additional one year salary for 2018.

He left roughly this time last year, I think it was March. He played with IFK Goteborg for two half-seasons: the end of 2016-17, and the first half of 2017-18. They let him go mid-season, as he is leaving on a free, reportedly. Which means they could not come to terms with either Mix or with CFG/MLS for an extension of the loan. And rather than just pay him one year for doing nothing, or find a new loan destination for one year, CFG/MCFC extended the relationship by 3.5 years. I cannot make sense of this.

NYCFC doesn't want him. IFK Goteborg seemingly doesn't want him, at least not for an agreeable price. But Man City signs him for an additional 3.5 years, because they presumably have interest elsewhere. But if there is solid existing interest, why does Mix extend with CFG and not just wait out the year and deal himself as a free agent, when he can capture the full value instead of sharing it with CFG?
