I think the opening chant from this song would make an amazing opening chant for our games. When sung by a big crowd, the chant echoes and builds on itself and sounds really incredible and moving. Check out the below video at the 45 second mark if you have any doubts.

One thing we don't yet have is that great song or chant that is both really impressive in the big stadium and uniquely our own. This would be perfect on both counts. It's worth adding that the song is about a quintessentially New York City band and the influence that band had on the rest of the world. A perfect thing for our supporters to adopt.

Thanks. Let's hope people reach a consensus. I am only a couple of sections over from you guys, and will happily get my section-mates singing along.

Love it. Great suggestion Gotham Gator Gotham Gator. I've been saying since day one, the only way to get much more of the stadium involved is to have situational cue chants (whether it's before kickoff, player intros, for goals, etc.) It's hard for most of the stadium to hear the supporters so if the rest know what and when a staple is performed, so many more folks can join in. With that said, even if this doesn't make it much further than the bleachers, I still think it's money, (especially if all SG's join in on this one). R roxfontaine work your magic my friend!

I fully endorse this, and will happily join in from section 224.

Kind of surprised that you of all people picked something close to the Seminoles chant.

I can't guess whether the kids will go for this geezer rock, but this guy likes it. Wasn't this the album/song that all the kids hated because Apple had the temerity to give it to them for free?
Gotham Gator Gotham Gator good choice.

I'll post this everywhere I can on Monday morning when everyone is checking in. Let's see what happens.
Is a mega phone allowed (if not maybe a meeting with the club is needed to explain why its a good idea)? Because this would be executed best as a chant & respond/chant-back like how Bono is egging on the crowd. (At least initially) Having one person in the Third Rail lead the chant and then the rest of the supporters section join in with the chant-back would be the only way to really convey to the masses of the stadium how to build the intensity.... and without the mega phone, it seems like it'd be a lot harder to get the ball rolling.

This would be so perfect though to start up right after the anthem is played and carry it through/past kickoff.

Even better if you have a second megaphone on the opposite side as well to get the whole stadium going

I've now played this about a dozen times this morning and I'm fcking stoked to see this happen before each kick-off. The crowd caught on this past year with the Hey Baby chant and got in to it, so there's no reason why a full minute of a call-&-response chant won't be able to electrify the crowd. This really could become one of those seminal-type events that helps define the game-day crowd experience and interaction. 30K strong chanting this would fire up the team and get noticed around the league. R roxfontaine has to get this done!

What would it take to get between 4 and 8 megaphones around the stadium coordinated? With a little practice they could all follow a single visual cue of the "lead" megaphone raising up and then all be chanting on the same beat. So questions:
  1. Are we allowed to bring them in?
  2. Who can we rally from each participating section to man the megaphone?
  3. How do we get a practice or 2 in before our March home opener?
(Side note, 4-8 were random numbers. No reason we couldn't just as well have a megaphone in every section. I'll volunteer for 136.)

I am glad that the suggestion came from the forums and that R roxfontaine has the right touch as there are so many moving parts with the various SG. It's key that there is buy in to the fact that this is not strictly a TR thing but a universal one.

The beauty of this chant is in the voice and only the voices. It's the one time that I wouldn't want to hear the drums until at least a good minute has gone by (that's when U2 starts playing in the video). Convincing them that the drums will muck up the effect will take some smooth talking, but it's going to be necessary.

FootyLovin FootyLovin - I don't think it'll take more than 2 mega phones to get it to work - one on each side of the stadium. Everybody else will easily see what's taking place and join in to those two. Too many mega phones and you're left with "leaders" being out of sync.

Plus, one on the opposite side near the city beats would help to shut them down so that chant could develop.

I saw this show at the Garden this past summer and U2 started it the same way. It was electric. Great idea Gotham Gator Gotham Gator

The best time this could be done would be after the MLS anthem and players walk on the pitch. The NYCFC video has been playing the entire season before kickoff but they may scrap that for a song or something else.
