Mix Gone?

It's just a theory. Props for laying on the sarcasm. It's not easy to pull off in text only.

I would say though that it's entirely possible that CFG is just trying to make as much money as possible off this team. They may not actually care whether they win or not.

Making the playoffs is obviously important to them. But after that, they might not genuinely care about the team winning a cup.

They picked 3 DPs from the 3 biggest soccer markets in the world. They must know that if MLS gets international attention their TV deals could bring in serious cash. Not to mention the global sales of jerseys and merch.
The Pogba thing was interesting. And these companies want to make money more than anything else. But winning makes money. Unless you have some reason that not playing Mix makes more money, then it's not about the money.

And also, Cups make money. Of course they want to win MLS Cup.

Stop dodging and just tell us the real facts we all want to know.... do you have a 26.2 bumper sticker or not?
I don't even own a car..... so I can't be one of those people as much as I want to while lose sleep at night dreaming about it.... Thanks for reminding me and rubbing it in....

So you one-upped the car-having people and got "26.2" tattooed on the back of your left calf?
Well, you're thinking of the IronMan crowd.... but no, I have never tagged myself with ink. But if I did, I could one-up them all and get 42,164Meters done in either Japanese symbols or Sanskrit. Although for all I'd know, it'd probably say "I quit after a mile"

Yeah I guess I did, so belatedly thank you, but it wasn't ignored because I wasn't appreciative of your recognition, but more because I didn't want it to be about a humble brag. The reference to the time was only meant to illustrate a certain level of marathon fitness/ability doesn't translate over to footy in a 1-to-1 correlation.

Shit I was drinking and trying to be a wise ass now I have to buy you a drink.

Maybe they have a deal in place wth Atlanta or Minnesota and don't want him getting hurt.

It's fucking MLS. It's probably something dumb like that.
I guess that could make sense.

[Realized when typing, this next part isn't really in response to your post]
If they were looking for an international buyer, wouldn't they want Mix on the field? He can't gain a whole ton of interest while sitting on the bench. What film would teams look at in order to "scout" him? He hasn't played in many matches this year. He was often played out of position last year. Would they go back to his time in Norway or with the USMNT?

And I don't think he should have been starting over Lampard or anything, but as others have noted, he is the best like-for-like replacement for each of the midfield spots. And he could be match fit at this moment to come in to replace Lampard while he is injured.

Those are the minutes that Mix could have gotten that could bring international scouts' eyeballs.

With Lampard out and most of Pirlo's early passing in the last game going to the other team, it seems like a logical time to give Mix a shot. Sadly, I think we've seen the last of him. Something Vieira doesn't like whether it's his level of training, or his barnet, has done him in.

I thought about all these and came up with

4) Mix is offering up yet another tweet that is more about metaphor than literal meaning - his NY Marathon is his lengthy struggle to get on the pitch for the local club. Training for a marathon can keep you in good fitness, but it would do nothing to help him get back in the 18 or on the pitch with another team. If true (and I am increasingly doubting it is), it is perhaps a sign that he's not that serious about his soccer career.
5) he's really fucking dumb and didn't know how long it was.

Supports the reason for not sending vague texts that can be misinterpreted by public, team, and teammates.
I'd be surprised if the team/teammates didn't already know he wasn't running the marathon. As to cryptically leading the public on, I prefer this to Twitter blasts/bashing and no harm came to anybody with this Easter egg hunt. If the team doesn't want him on social media, they can either make an organization-wide rule, or just play him more so he's too tired to care about posting.

Fair points. I just think that he's a calculated, thoughtful guy, and at times peculiar guy, so his socialmedia-ing is usually deeper than the plain words. I thought that the Columbus tweet was even more open to unintended (or possibly intended) interpretations by public, team and teammates based upon timing, content, word-choice, context, etc.

I don't disagree- he's a very intelligent, while cryptic, social media poster. And I like that! Double/triple meaning posts that are left up to interpretation and guessing are far better than the pointed crap that others post (like Bedoya).

I would love to see him play today. I think you are going to see Mendoza moved into the starting line-up though and one of Mendoza, Harrison, McNamara will go to CAM. From other games, it seems like McNamara would play centrally.

The fact that people are still reaching for ever-more outlandish conspiracy theories about why Mix isn't playing will never fail to amaze me.

Usually when a player doesn't make the squad it's because the manager doesn't rate him. I think Mix is alright, I probably would have used him here and there this season. But I really don't know what I'm missing about him that has everyone else so convinced that something else must be going on.
