Mls CBA 2015 Thread

New details on the CBA!
The MLS salary cap – including a new allocation fund – has increased to $3.74 million in 2015, a 21 percent jump from 2014. That budget space is set to increase at a rate of approximately 7% per year over the life of the deal.
Not bad.

Add some DPs, super-max or unlimited, and the league will be on a healthy growth trajectory.

So here's what we're looking at going forward:

2015 - $3.74 million Max - $467.5k
2016 - $4.00 million Max - $500k
2017 - $4.28 million Max - $535k
2018 - $4.58 million Max - $572.5k
2019 - $4.90 million Max - $612.5k

No wonder players weren't that concerned with salary cap. Between allocation funds and DP slots, its almost irrelevant to the players.

That max is very important to us. Especially if we buy Calle and have to spread out his transfer terms.

I think its the complete opposite. They care because it becomes the ceiling. When they get too expensive, teams will discard for younger or foreign players who are cheaper.

I agree. I think the players would prefer that the Max number stay as low as possible.

Wow listening to steve young, the NFL didn't get free-agency till the late 80's - early 90's. MLS can come a long way in 10 years.

Right now its $387,500 but it might be different under new CBA.
Yeah so it looks in line with that Max of $467,500 for 2015.

I also heard the rosters have been reduced from 30 to 28 which means that new salary cap will go slightly farther.

So that means if anyone else is brought on at this point (excluding Lampard) means NYCFC would have to loan a player to Wilmington, trade, release, etc. from the current roster.

Have we determine what the total roster is at NYCFC?

Some said that with the new CBA, roster sizes contracted from a maximum of 30 players to a maximum of 28 players and New York City FC has 28 players now when including Frank Lampard; they are:

Patrick Mullins 14
Sebastian Velasquez 26
Thomas McNamara 15
Frank Lampard (to join) 8
Ned Grabavoy 11, Mix 10
Javier Calle 30, Mehdi Ballouchy 20
Matthew Dunn 23, Pablo Alvarez 22
Andrew Jacobson 4
Kwadwo Poku 88
Chris Wingert 17, Shay Facey 24, Jason Hernandez 21, Josh Williams 13
Connor Brandt 16, Kwame Watson-Siriboe 3, Andres Mendoza 2, Jeb Brovsky 5
George John (inj) 6
