I like the visual representation.
No standout games this week, either just as a great matchup or good potential to help NYCFC with a result. Atlanta and RB both with 2/3 chance of winning. Portland 60%. At least Dallas probably drops points. We don't even get much help from the USOC schedule LionNYC LionNYC included. Among those we care about, only Portland has a midweek game.

I might actually take a weekend off from MLS, and given the lack of alternatives, from soccer.

Anyone care to opine why it's worth my while to watch any of these?

ATL v DC will be interesting to see whether DC at home was a fluke and whether ATL can attain a home win.
CHI v TOR bc two shit teams trying to (or not...) get better

That's about all I can think for interesting matchups.

Non-regular season related, but we are all rooting for SKC in their USOC match.

not to sound dumb but, why? Would this mean that instead of top 1, but top 2 overall pts get CCL qualification, thereby almost 100% qualifying us?

Yes. To sum up. Because of a CCL schedule switch, in 2017 and 2018 US teams only qualify for CCL by winning USCO or MLS Cup. No spots were reserved for regular season records. Also, the 2 years form a single qualification period.
But, Toronto won MLS cup last year, and since they're not a US team that opened one spot.
And, SKC won USOC last year. Since 2017 and 2018 form a single qualification unit,m if they win again that opens another spot.
Those 1 or 2 spot(s) will go to the cumulative 2017 and 2018 best regular season records excluding SKC (who is already in) and also excluding any Canadian team and whoever wins MLS cup this year (if American).

That is correct. But don’t discount NJ in the CCL race.

Do they mean different things in this context? I'm not really invested in it, but I'd consider them interchangeable here. But I could be wrong.

I was poking fun of the vague wording in the CONCACAF rule book that had us all confused as to if we qualified or not.

I'm still super pissed at MLS and US Soccer for taking away our CCL spot. It's illogical what they're doing.

A Canadian team taking an American's team spot means a Canadian team won MLS Cup. That's one year of work. The team with the most points in a season that's American should get that spot instead.

If an American team earned two spots because they won back to back cups (MLS or USOC), then that's two years of work. Thus the team with the combined points from both seasons that's American should get that spot in lieu of the team getting another redundant spot.

In the tell all about NYCFC first five year's (2014-2018), we will ear about Mix, Lampard, de Blasio, and this CCL spot.

We all know it’s because they have no idea where we would host. And unlike USOC, we can’t just give up the hosting rights.

Yup. I'm just waiting for MLS and US Soccer to screw us over again.

That red card to Callens in Columbus in the playoffs? MLS/USSF's work at the hands of their emissaries PRO.

Except MLS and US Soccer aren’t taking it away, concacaf gave us the false sense that we were getting it as MLS and US soccer originally published that it would be handed out in this manner, and then concacaf erroneously said we qualified before being corrected.

DC up early in ATL.

I told y’all these guys have some talent and might turn it around.

I don’t think that one goal will hold up.

Also of interest, Barco out of the squad and Carleton gets his first ever MLS start.

Barco has not been what they hoped to date. I wonder if he’s hurt, though, since he’s not even in the 18.
DC does look better than I expected.

Stieber wide, Arriola at the 8, Durkin growing into the #6. Lots of home games.

It’s not crazy to think they make a push.

Getting Arriola more involved and closer to the other more technical players has been a big help.
