MLS Week 24 - 2018

We need to beat them on the 22nd, that's for sure. And keep up otherwise. That means we need 3 points tomorrow as well. Gonna be tough without SJ.
All I could think here was "what does San Jose have anything to do with this?"
But yeah, let's just hope Stuver (SOMEHOW) shows us the last two games were flukes.

LAFC lost to SKC at home; Portland lost to Vancouver at home (quite the unforutnate loss- they should have won it.).
We are now the only team in MLS left undefeated at home this season.

That’s cool. But it doesn’t get you shit in the grand scheme. So color me unimpressed.
In the grand scheme of things it means we've been great at home, and if we keep it up and stay undefeated, that means we got a shit-ton of points at home that no other team got. So if we can get some away game points as well, it'll be even better.

There’s a flaw in your logic when it comes to getting a trophy.

I’ll assume you’re aware.

Have you seen NYCFC on the road? Who cares if they are undefeated at home. They will have to play on the road in the playoffs.

it was just a fun little tidbit to throw around, wasn't meant as a statistical measure.

We've never see Dome in knockout games, and we don't know how different of a game plan he has for that, so we can't even say how we'd do home OR away with Dome.

We’ve seen Pep teams in knockout matches. I’m way more optomistic than i was with PV.

This was also Portland’s first loss in 4 months. I’d say they were due for an unfortunate result.

Me too, I really want to see Dome break the duck.

I'm going to say no.
The fallacy is when you bet or at least predict a streak or tendency will end. More specifically, it involves the truly mistaken belief that future results will compensate in order to balance things out (ie if you flip heads 70 times out of 100 the fallacy is you should expect substantially fewer than 50 heads in the next 100 to compensate).
Stating after the fact that a team that was undefeated for 15-games benefited from some good fortune and it was about time it ended is not really the same.

Well, you said they were due for a result, which is different than saying "it's about time it ended.", so I took that "due for a result" to mean what I said. Your clarification of "it was about time it ended" has a different meaning.

I still don't understand why DCU would bring Ousted up for a corner when it's a tied game. Orlando could have won it there on the break.

What a fucking ending in DC - Orlando. Orlando down to 10 men tie it up.

Late in stoppage time. DC pulls the goalie. Ball goes out and Orlando has a run out. As the player crosses midfield and sets up to shoot at the open net, Wayne Rooney comes out of nowhere to tackle the ball away. He gets up, and fires a 50 yard ball into the box that Acosta heads in for the winning goal.

Poor Orlando. I actually feel sorry for them. That franchise is not just a mess, but they have the worst luck right now too.

Orlando choked that at the end. He should have just smacked the ball immediately, but instead he decided to run a bit and Rooney was able to tackle.
That being said, Rooney just had probably the play(s) of the week

I don’t know of another professional team that’s as bad as Orlando right now. This team finds a way to kick themselves in the groin week after week after week.
