Toronto has two games this week, Philly midweek and Montreal over the weekend. Philly could easily be a trap game if they're eying Montreal. Toronto also could be without players on MNT call up because with the US game Friday, Arena very likely won't want Altidore and Bradley playing Sunday; that'd be a double week of club games followed by a double week of MNT games.

Good, then we'll have to rest Tummy. Future USMNT star that he is.

And the good thing is Montreal does not have a mid-week game this week, so they should be fully rested. Really hoping TFC drops some points this week as I think there's a big opportunity for it.

pretty shitty thing to say as a coach of the second place team not far off from the top. As more and more time passes the less and less i like PV.
Mind games. It happens all the time is other leagues.

the only thing this can possibly do is piss off your own players... its professional soccer toronto isnt gonna care or act any differently because of what vieira said.
Haha, hardly. I'd be astounded if the players and Vieira haven't already had conversations about how to catch Toronto, I.e. Focus on the next game and win it before worrying about the one after.

What Vieira's comment does do is put the monkey on Toronto's back that it's their Shield to lose. Any points lost is their mistake. Every coach in any sport worth their salt uses mind games to create a psychological advantage.

and you think toronto doesnt already know that?

I think it's a lot harder to lead and be the front runner with all of the pressure and expectations than it is to shadow and chip away at the lead with no expectations of success.

The Toronto players can be told every day that Vieira is trying to get into their head, but the idea has already been planted and they can't turn it off.

So maybe Toronto really is the juggernaut some pundits have anointed them as, and they'll run away with the Shield having brushed off these comments as easily as they do the competition, but any little advantage PV can give our team is worth the effort.

I don't know if it helps, but it doesn't hurt. At a minimum, it makes the story about PV saying that, and not about us trying to chase down TFC while we didn't add a single asset in the window.

Yeah, I don't make much out of PV's comments at all. I'm sure he's not telling the team this. The only potential impact this may have is put a bit more pressure on TFC. I don't necessarily think it does, but I don't see how this can be negative at all.

Only DC United could manage to win two straight games without scoring a goal themselves. Two 1-0 wins on own goals.

Also, apparently every one just needs to copy DC when it comes to game planning for Atlanta. 3-0-0 vs Atlanta this year

Enjoying all the Twitter remarks about their astute transfer window signing of Own Goal.
