MLS Week 8 - 2018

I never liked Ashley Cole much at all. But if I’m honest with myself, I’ll say that I absolutely love the LAG version of Ashley Cole.

He’s everything you’d have thought he wouldn’t be.

A Galaxy win over Atlanta would do so nicely tonight.

LA Galaxy giving us no favors tonight as they fall to Atlanta 2-0. r/MLS has a thread saying that Sigi Schmid is out at LA. Another thread says Wegner is 3/1 betting line that his next job is at MLS.

As good as our start has been, Atlanta sits only one point back and Sporting KC has matched us game-for-game after that first one. If we lose tonight, we are tied with KC and Atlanta would have a game in hand.

Plus, Dallas is actually winning games instead of just tying them, and LAFC is racking up road points. Both have 12 points through 6 games.

LAG backline needs work big time. LAFC continue to impress.

I think if NYCFC are to win the East, it goes through Atlanta.
The Galaxy also had no midfield control at almost any point in the game. Their forwards were non-factors who never got the ball. When the Galaxy did have the ball in Atlanta's end, the Galaxy mid was so bad that Atlanta was able to start fast breaks with numbers and without any long 3-line passes. They just ran and LAG couldn't keep up.

Also, Almiron is really, really good at that thing where he sees a defender coming and just before the defender arrives he kicks the ball forward while slowing himself down and draws a foul/penalty/yellow.

All true. But it only takes a 1pt difference to win the Shield. And ATL still has to come to Yankee Stadium where the dimensions won’t let them play balls into space for a track meet. Big fields are the key to their success by tiring out the opposition with chasing.

MLS refs have a habit of refusing to call fouls that actually are if they’ve become part of a player’s repertoire of standard moves. They rarely call PKs for Villa in the box. Maxi gets his head elbowed every match with no calls. I’m just waiting for the refs to get wise regarding Almiron’s gear-shift foul - once they stop calling it, the smug look on his face will disappear real fast.

While I can see Wenger driving around Cali in a classic convertible, I cannot see him dealing with LA traffic.

His analysis of the the In/Out Burger would also be legendary.

“They told me to get my food animal style. The only animal I want to be at In and Out is beef. A hamburger. I don’t know what other animals they are cooking in the kitchen. I much prefer Pret when I was in London.” - Wenger
