MNUFC Postmatch

I was thinking back on Minnesota's lone goal in this match. The blame lies almost entirely on Johansen for spilling that shot and not either catching it or directing it out. I do think, however, that Chanot and Callens bear some small responsibility for standing around and watching while Ramirez ran forward to where there might be a chance for a rebound.

Indeed, the initial shot was so wildly speculative (35-40 yards) that I suspect that Heath, knowing we were starting a stale goalkeeper, told his players to take long distance chances to create just that kind of opportunity.

probably they were expecting him to be able to hold it like Johnson and not expect a rebound

How can you blame the defense? Based on where Lurch coughed up the ball, it was away from Chanot, not towards him, and Ramirez was a step in front of Chanot the entire time. Chanot never could have beaten him to the ball. The one person that could have gotten there first was Lurch, because he had 2 seconds to cover it up. Stale or fresh, GK's practice getting off the ground after a shot all the time - that should have been bread & butter for him.

I'm with you. I heard the the commentators say something like this when re-watching, so I backed it up a few times. The CBs did absolutely nothing wrong. To ask them to crash in as soon as a shot is taken would be ridiculous, and it would cause more harm than good.

A professional team that likes to play quickly sees a shot like that as an invitation to release a quick counter.

I'm firmly against changing our tactics and trying to have the CBs become de facto extra keepers just because Lurch can't catch a ball. It's not even feasible even it didn't philosophically offend me.

Looks like i got the points from yesterday's code and they mislabeled the game vs Minnesota

Did anyone else not get their Cityzens points for this game?
I have not, but I have been credited with Attendance, Early Attendance, plus a Win Bonus for the Vancouver game. Which was last night, in Vancouver, which I did not attend, and if I did attend I would have to submit a special form with a photo to get just a single set of points not 3 sets. I'm guessing they mislabeled my Minnesota credits as Vancouver. Those all came in today, btw.

Thanks! that's pretty weird they got the games mixed up - the site was down last night so I couldn't get the points for watching the game, but I still don't have any activity for the Minnesota game. Will wait a few more days before reaching out to them.
