NASL has lost D2 sanction.

I wonder what NASL clubs with MLS ambitions will do, leave and join USL?
I'm pretty sure Indy and NC have already packed their bags for USL. San Fran seems dead, and Puerto Rico was struggling before the storm. Edmonton is destined to leave when they launch the Canadian league, supposedly in 2019. That leaves 3 current teams who seem committed to NASL, who knows what they plan to do, but something tells me they will focus their energy on the court rooms rather than the field.

Or phrased another way, HALF of the NASL did not want to proceed with the lawsuit.

That's really pathetic that they've filed a lawsuit on behalf of the league when they don't even have a majority supporting it. What a trainwreck!!!

I mean, the alternative is a pretty strong likelihood of the league folding, so you could argue that if you are willing to pay the fees and wait the time it will take, there is really no reason not to proceed with it. It's a bit like knowing you're going to get hit in the face and deciding not to put your arms up to protect yourself because getting hurt is inevitable. Why not at least take the chance?

Why take the chance? Why pay the legal fees? Some of those teams want to land in the USL, so why throw your hat in the ring in an effort to attack the governing body? just because one can bring a frivolous lawsuit doesn't mean they should - the league's owners are failed businessmen and I applaud the ones that aren't looking for a scapegoat for their league's failure. Take the lump and move on to the USL. Unfortunately they're in bed with asshole owners that'd rather place the blame on others. Too bad USSoccer can't countersue with the intent to bury the Kosmos name forever as a failure.

Well, some of the teams clearly have an implacable hatred for USL, so for them the league is the life or death of their club(s).

It's probably more a hatred of MLS and the USL is affiliated with MLS thus creating their lack of interest to join the 2nd division league.

The courthouse is across the street from me. Typically for big cases, like terrorism or mafia stuff, the news crews blanket the sidewalk with their trucks and uplinks, and sometimes even a helicopter. Something tells me it's going to be quiet on the street for those dates.

Will it be possible for a member of the public to attend the hearing?

No idea. I only walk my dog past the entrance in the morning. Never had any business inside.

so then the 2 teams will play at their home stadiums.....i mean the rest are pop up stadium type thing anyway ( toronto, Swope park rangers).....RB II i think is an actual college field, not sure. to me that was the biggest issue....i didnt even know there was turf issues and also some teams had smaller fields ( outside louisville).

anyone want to guess the new teams,....every one expects North Carolina. Maybe Indy?

The fifth team is the mystery, assuming the fourth is North Carolina.

Fresno, Las Vegas, Nashville, North Carolina, and my money is on DCU2 playing in their new stadium. Seems pretty late for someone to be launching a true independent for 2018.

Could easily see Indy applying over the winter as well. Doesn't sound like the Jacksonville owner has much interest in the USL, so maybe they go to the NISA (if it happens) or on hiatus as he tries to sell the IP, and the Deltas will likely fold. Puerto Rico could be done due to the storm. Cosmos and Miami aren't going to be accepted to USL if they even wanted to. The expansion teams are wildcards.

indy's stadium looks so old....im sure it meets the capacity element but what about the turf...wonder if that is the approved kind

This also came out today: https://www.soctakes.com/2017/10/03/how-each-nasl-team-voted-ussf-lawsuit/

How each NASL team voted regarding USSF lawsuit
A supermajority was met with three teams abstaining.

In the yes camp:
Miami FC, New York Cosmos, Jacksonville Armada FC, California United FC, San Diego NASL, Puerto Rico FC

Could not confirm: Indy Eleven — more on this later

Did not vote: North Carolina FC, San Francisco Deltas, FC Edmonton

Again, NCFC (USL), Deltas (fold), FCE (CPL), and Indy Eleven (?). I was hoping the San Diego NASL team would switch gears to USL, but initiating the lawsuit does not favor their odds of wanting to get in, or getting in if they wanted to.

im more surprised teams that dont exist yet get to vote on this.

i guess NISA is the answer for the rest...in case NASL dies. Cosmos can bitch all they want but if NASL is gone is best to go there and regroup ( plus new ownership)

would be cool though North carolina Fc and charlotte and charleston battery get little rivalry going.....and indy with Cincinnati and louisville? rivalries there

EDIT: For DCU 2, when is that stadium supposed to open?.

I know this is old but Wilt has made vague comments about not launching if there is no nasl to promote into.
