New England - Postmatch

Someone on Twitter commented that a friend who watches practices said Vieira is down on Lewis because of defensive lapses...
Thanks for the info, that adds a tiny bit of clarity to a weird situation. Vieira should play the kids more. I mean, we’re losing with worn out veterans. Why not lose with new blood instead? It’s at least building something.

This loss at New England puts NYCFC's record against the Revs at 3-4-2 [W-L-D]. Together with the on-going slump over the past 2 months, this loss puts NYCFC's all-time official results (MLS regular season, MLS playoffs & US Open Cup; no friendlies) back at .500 -- 41-41-24.

ETA: NYCFC now has a losing record against 8 clubs: FC Dallas [0-1-2], NE Revolution [3-4-2], New York Cosmos [0-2-0], NJ Red Bulls [3-6-1], Orlando City [2-5-2], Real Salt Lake [0-3-0], Sporting KC [1-2-0], and Toronto FC [2-3-4].

That's the thing... Someone on Twitter commented that a friend who watches practices said Vieira is down on Lewis because of defensive lapses... Christ, our defense isn't the issue. We can't score a friggin' goal. Lewis is a possible answer to this problem.

So you have Khiry who "puts in a good work rate" defensively but inept going forward. We're not talking about a CM or LB here, your winger should be dangerous going forward. If "defensive work rate" was all it is Alex Muyl would be a MLS best XI.

I don't even see Khiry putting in a good effort on the defensive end and even when he gets the ball he has no idea what to do with it.

I think our bench, both in terms of personnel and use of personnel, is way more debatable than our starting XI. Both for this match and in general. I think most people agree with PV that our best XI is: Johnson, Struna, Chanot, Callens, Mata, Yangel, Maxi, Ring, Jack, Villa, Wallace. And it is a very strong XI for this league, maybe the strongest or 2nd strongest. But our bench isn't great, and the fact that PV sees TMac, Shelton and Pirlo as first offensive options off the bench is frustrating.
personally don't rate Wallace. Started the season off well but has been non existent since Basically June. He doesn't run art players much and he really is only good for defensive reasons. Personally I would prefer to try someone else there.
