I imagine you all got the email about NYCFC having grand opening events for their new small-sided soccer pitches.

I just moved very close to the one they've opened in Astoria, so I'm going to try to attend that one. Anyone else going?

I RSVP'd for a Brooklyn one.
 
so can anyone remind me....is it only those few they mentioned last year? wasnt the plan to have about 50 or so in a few years....or did i totally get that wrong

Yeah, the plan is still to build 50 over five years, and these are just the first to be completed.

Didn’t miss much at the Astoria one. Some words from people, a (red) ribbon cutting, kids playing. Pretty much what you saw in the pictures.

the question becomes if any kids are playing there now or tomorrow or any time when there is no press event. i sure hope so

From everything I've heard it's already become a pretty popular spot. (I live a little too far to walk over on a whim to check)

i think my cousin used to play in the area ill have to ask him...if so then you are right it was a spot people would play alot
 
There's been a small-sided court in the playground on the other side of Hoyt Ave. North for a long time and it's been very popular. People in the neighborhood are definitely down for some small-side.
